Figure 1. Where is the admission notice of Jiangsu overseas young doctor training program? * * * * Who did you learn from? -After considering that the top hospitals or teachers in the professional field get the project, the next question is "Where to go?" Europe or America, or Japan? We can't just find a place to stay for half a year, nor can we idle away our time and get nothing. Some doctors were originally A majors and went to the teachers of B majors to be researchers. Is 1 year; There are also A universities all over the United States. Find a hospital at will 1 year. These are all going out to complete this friendship and losing the original great significance. My method of "finding a place" is: 1. Top hospitals in professional fields; 2. Top teachers in professional fields. Or after investigation, I think I will become a top hospital or teacher in the professional field at least in the short term. So I first decided to choose an American hospital. To find a teacher, I must find a "super thigh" from other places. I initially locked in sports medicine and joint surgery. It is often because a person falls in love with a city. Therefore, when choosing a teacher, you must explore it yourself. At this time, you can't just rely on emails or rumors. So where can I find so many foreigners on the spot and "interview" myself? Undoubtedly, so many international conferences every year are excellent occasions, especially the annual meeting of Orthopedic Branch of Chinese Medical Association (Figure 2). You can check the background information of international experts attending the meeting in advance: the amount of surgery, the amount of articles published by PubMed (clinical and basic), the introduction of departments, the previous international fellow training, and whether there is similar fund support. Only in this way can we be targeted and leave a good impression on each other. After preliminarily identifying some candidates, email them before they come to the meeting and ask them when and where they are free to consult relevant questions. Bring your resume, with a heart that even if your resume is thrown into the trash can, and with a nervous heart, go to see the appointment "thigh". Actually, I guess I've thrown away a lot of resumes. Of course, going abroad to attend international conferences is also a good opportunity to find teachers, especially attending the annual meeting of the American Orthopedic Association (AAOS).
Figure 2. Annual meeting of Chinese Medical Association Osteology Branch. After seeing many international big coffees, I still feel that there is no type I like. By chance, an international conference on medical transportation was held in Shanghai. I read the schedule and know that Professor Freddy Fu is going to give a keynote speech. Generally, after the opening ceremony, the first row is almost half full of coffee, so I go to the edge of the first row and sit down with a whoosh, so that I can not only communicate better after his speech, but also listen to the lecture at the nearest distance. When a professor gives a speech, you can carefully consider his speech style, slide preparation and, of course, eye contact from time to time to confirm whether he is your favorite personality type. If the first impression is good, you can continue to ask some questions. Tell the professor that he is interested in becoming a researcher with him, if there is any introduction about the training plan, or if the professor has a researcher in China whom he is proud of. In the process of communication, if you study there in the future, you can have a superficial grasp of the atmosphere, language environment and humanities there. Perhaps because Dr. Fu is a Chinese-American, I have a natural sense of intimacy in the process of communication, and I deeply feel Dr. Fu's enthusiasm and passion for work and life. Compared with many previous exchanges, I made a decision to go to Pittsburgh. The other money, it's settled. The location and teacher have also been determined, so how to plan? In fact, the purpose before going is very clear, that is, to strengthen the skills and literacy training of clinicians, the training and education of doctors, and the management of patients. So before I went, I made a survey of departments and doctors. When I got there, the first thing I did was to express my hope. I was half at the doctor's and half in prison. At the same time, I asked my tutor, Professor Jiang Qing, to mention this matter to him. I wrote an email to express my wishes: from the training plan, the professional configuration of the department and my own clinical stage. In short, it is a word, half a year, half studying medical clinical, half studying combined clinical. Because UPMC (University of Pittsburgh Medical Center) has a particularly strong orthopedic research institute, and top basic orthopedic researchers such as Rocky Tuan and Wang Jimin are all there. Fellowship spends most of the year working on projects in the laboratory. In our own center, under the leadership of Mr. Jie Qing and Mr. Jiang Qing, joint related scientific research has become increasingly mature, so this time I went mainly to study clinical. After detailed preparation and appeal, Dr. Fu helped me communicate with Professor Lawrence Croset, the co-director. The process went very smoothly. From then on, I studied medicine in 235, and 14 studied joints. As I said at the sharing meeting of Jiangsu Provincial Health and Health Commission, UPMC's study abroad experience is a "milestone" if one's growth career is summarized in three words. Mainly in the following aspects: 1. Promoted patriotic feelings.
Figure 3. Really realize that studying abroad is the best opportunity for patriotism education. 2. Broaden international horizons.
Figure 4. I saw the world's top athletes in UPMC. 3. I strengthened my clinical ability.
Figure 5. Really understand and master joint replacement and sports medicine related technologies. 4. I have seen medical education.
Figure 6. Tell clinicians to stop spending learning curves on patients. 5. Understand that patients come first.
Figure 7. All strategies, new technologies and new treatments will make every effort to benefit patients. 6. ignite the passion of life.
Figure 8. Naive of new things, all kinds of games are boxes or sideline. Of course, there are also some suggestions and feelings to share with you:
1. Participate in the activities of international homecoming as much as possible, especially for English speakers. If you seldom speak English for half a year, this period will be basically deserted, and your listening, speaking, reading and writing skills will not improve. There are many vivid examples around.
2. Be good at asking questions and taking notes. No matter during the operation, in the ward or reading English books, all problems should be recorded. The next day, I asked the teachers for advice until I understood, and I had to confirm it again. Solve 5 ~ 10 problems every day, and the knowledge accumulation in half a year will be enormous.
3. Seriously study and summarize 2 ~ 3 English professional books.
Make more friends, and you will get help one day. For example, when I started my first English periodical three or four years after I returned to Nanjing, all my friends supported it. It's much more convenient than looking for a needle in a haystack that you don't know.
Meet once, love at first sight, study for half a year, and benefit for life.
