The new Conservatory of Music will form a multi-level teaching model for graduate students, undergraduates, correspondence students and advanced students, and at the same time carry out multi-level quality education activities for the whole school and the society. With the continuous development of the music department, we will strive to build the music department into a first-class music college with high academic level and teaching level in a short time.

Strengthen international exchanges

Since the establishment of the department, many foreign musicians and music educators have been employed to visit, perform and communicate with the department. For example, in March 2005, Malan Carlson, a famous American conductor, was invited to our school to hold a special art lecture; Xue Wei, an international violinist, Wang Taiping, the chief violinist of the French Symphony Orchestra, Zuo Zhixiang, a Japanese international violinist, and Dasha, a young Dutch flute player, were invited to give lectures in the Music Department. The Oregon State Symphony Orchestra was also invited to perform in Zhengzhou. American tenor Bobby Noel came to our department to give lectures for three weeks and hold a solo concert.

At present, the Music Department has established an all-round cooperative relationship with the Belarusian National Conservatory of Music. Every year, Belarus sends a vocal music teacher and a piano teacher to the Music Department of Zhengzhou University to teach piano and vocal music, and every year, it also sends several students with excellent academic performance to the Belarusian National Conservatory of Music to study for master's degrees. In due course, Zhengzhou University will send young and middle-aged backbone teachers to the Belarusian National Conservatory of Music for professional further study or master's degree.

In March, 2005, our department signed an agreement with Taranto Conservatory of Music in Puglia, Italy, and the Italian side funded four teachers from the Music Department of Zhengzhou University to study in Italy. In June 2005, the Music Department sent two young teachers and two students to study in Italy. In the same year, we initially reached cooperation intentions with universities in the United States and Canada.
