There are five railway schools in Hunan. They are Hunan Railway Science and Technology Vocational and Technical School, Changsha Railway Vocational Secondary School, Hunan Railway Vocational and Technical College, Hunan Railway Fu Xiao Vocational Training School and Hunan High-speed Railway Vocational and Technical College.

At that time, there were ten colleges and universities under the Ministry of Railways, which were handed over to the Ministry of Communications or local governments during the reform in 2000. Now they are still the best school in the rail transit industry.

First, Southwest Jiaotong University and Beijing Jiaotong University, both universities with 2 1 1. Although it is not a double first-class university now, it is a double first-class discipline construction university. However, Beijing Jiaotong University was selected as a double-class discipline of system science, and Southwest Jiaotong University was selected as a double-class discipline of transportation engineering.

There are also three former 985 universities, which are now selected as double-class universities, namely Central South University, Tongji University and Southeast University. However, after the merger and reorganization, they all became comprehensive universities, but Central South University and Tongji University retained their rail transit majors, especially Central South University, and also retained the Railway Institute. Put them in this position, mainly because their comprehensive background is first-class.
