GNK Life Function Japanese Test (GNK Test for short) is a Japanese proficiency test sponsored by the Japanese Testing Committee of the International Human Resources Development Agency, a public welfare consortium certified by the Cabinet Office of Japan. It is a Japanese proficiency certificate recognized by Japanese officials, public offices, international institutions and commercial consortia. The GNK Japanese Life Function Test is a test to judge the Japanese proficiency of social life function for people whose mother tongue is not Japanese, and to help those who study in Japan or go to Japanese enterprises for employment.

The GNK test is divided into two sets of questions, Volume A and Volume B. The five grades are elementary, quasi-intermediate, intermediate, quasi-advanced and advanced respectively, which is equivalent to N5-N 1 of the Japanese Language Proficiency Test. The applicable grades of Volume A are: intermediate, quasi-advanced and advanced. The applicable levels of Volume B are: elementary and quasi-intermediate.
