Serious drought occurred in geological period 1999 in Liaoning province, and drought events occurred frequently after 2000, so there were 15 drought events.

Based on the daily precipitation and temperature data of 56 national meteorological observation stations1951-2014 in Liaoning province, according to the comprehensive meteorological drought monitoring index (MCI) used in the current meteorological drought monitoring business, and using the definition of drought events in the national standard meteorological drought grade,195/kloc-0. The results show that meteorological drought events have occurred frequently in Liaoning Province (1) in recent 64 years, especially after 2000. The influence range of spring drought and autumn drought increased the most, and the influence range of spring drought was the widest; (2) The frequency distribution of meteorological drought in Liaoning province has strong regional characteristics, and western Liaoning is a high incidence area of meteorological drought; (3) Meteorological drought can occur all year round, with the highest frequency in spring, followed by summer and relatively small frequency in autumn. (4) The intensity (duration) of meteorological drought events in Liaoning Province shows the consistent characteristics that the whole province is generally too large (too long) or too small (too short), and the central part of Liaoning Province is a sensitive area prone to severe drought and has a long duration.
