Why do adult tobacco seedlings get mosaic disease and how to prevent it?
1. Eliminate the source of virus: In tobacco-growing areas dominated by TMV, we should start with the seeds and remove the sick residues mixed in the seeds, so as to reduce the chance of disease at seedling stage. Combined with field management, weeds or wild hosts in seedbed and its vicinity should be eliminated in time, and early diseased plants in seedbed and tobacco field should also be removed as soon as possible to reduce the source of poison. The application of fertilizers mixed with incompletely decomposed sick residues should be avoided. 2. Breeding and utilization of disease-resistant varieties: Under natural conditions, there are obvious differences in the occurrence and harm degree of tobacco mosaic disease among different varieties. Therefore, hybrid breeding is usually carried out by using tobacco varieties and germplasm resources with different interspecific resistance in order to obtain ideal disease-resistant materials. The varieties kang 44, 63 15 and 6024 that have been used in production, as well as NC567, 628, 744, Cbl-ler5 1, Coker86 and Cob-er1744 introduced from abroad in recent years. At present, the main disease-resistant or disease-tolerant varieties planted in our province are Cuibi 1, Yunyan 85, K346 and so on. And Kirk 176 can also be planted in a small area with serious mosaic disease. 3. Reasonable arrangement of crop stubble or interplanting different crops in tobacco fields: interplanting tobacco with wheat, corn and other crops has obvious disease prevention effect, which has been accepted by many tobacco farmers in tobacco-growing areas. 4. Intensified rotation: For places where mosaic disease has occurred seriously in recent years, forced rotation should be implemented for more than 2 years. The effect of disease prevention is better if paddy-upland rotation is implemented in conditional areas. 5. Strengthen the management of tobacco field cultivation: the tobacco bed should be far away from the vegetable garden, curing barn and sunlight shed and apply "net fertilizer". Deep tillage in tobacco field can eliminate or reduce the primary infection source of TMV. During the growing period of seedbed and field, especially when topping and smearing extra buds, it should be carried out in the order of no disease area (plant) first and then disease area (plant). Operators should pay attention to washing their hands with soapy water to avoid human infection. At the early stage of mosaic disease, spraying plant balance agent or topdressing a small amount of quick-acting fertilizer, cultivating soil and watering can play a certain role in alleviating the disease.
