Defects and remedial measures of injection molded parts

People are eager to have a logical and systematic method to deal with these shortcomings, and many actual injection machines have their operating strategies. The most important thing in writing these strategies is to ensure that the semantics of all terms are clear and can be understood by all concerned people. In order to clearly describe the shortcomings of injection molded parts, all possible reasons should be checked. The impact should also be considered, and after determining the cause, necessary measures should be taken to reduce and prevent recurrence. There is a six-point strategy.

(1) tell the shortcomings. Because the shortcomings have different names, I decided to use that name and don't change it.

② Describe the shortcomings. When describing shortcomings, a possible reason may be included. For example, "insufficient injection molding", that is, incomplete injection molding, can be described as "insufficient filling pressure of mold" or "insufficient plastic filling mold". It is a very useful method to describe it in the simplest words without involving any possible reasons. In this way, when we look for the causes of defects in the next step, people will have any prejudice.

(3) Finding the reasons for the shortcomings may be a long process, because he needs to consider the processing technology of plastics, injection molding machines and molds. The following is a recommended guide.

A. Plastic: check the grade or model, check the impurities and confirm whether it meets the manufacturer's specifications. If several batches of plastics from the same manufacturer or the same plastic from another supplier have similar defects, it means that there is no problem with plastics.

B. Injection molding machine: Check some functions of injection molding machine and consider any factors that may affect pressure, temperature, proportion and time. If defects appear intermittently, it usually implies that the injection molding machine is not operating normally, such as temperature fluctuation caused by poor temperature sensing line. If the defect appears in the same position of a single mold, it implies that the cause of the problem lies in the device of the flute tube or the control adjustment of injection molding.

C mold: ensure that the mold is installed correctly, the temperature is appropriate, and all parts run smoothly. If defects always appear in the same cavity or cavities of a multi-cavity mold, then defects usually appear in the gating system (i.e., runners or gates serving these cavities).

D processing: check whether the pressure, temperature and time are set according to the suggestions of plastic suppliers. If the defect disappears when the mold is used on another injection molding machine, it is likely that the defect is caused by the consistency between the processing conditions used and the original machine production. If the defect disappears when another person comes to operate the injection molding machine, it may be human error. The speed, the management of injection molding action and the residence time of opening and closing the safety door should be checked.

(4) Determine the influence of defects. If the defects make the injection molded parts unusable or unsold, it must be eliminated.

⑤ Determining the responsibility may only be an academic interest, but if the shortcomings appear again, the operator still has to discuss the raw materials, injection molding machines, molds and processing technology.

⑥ Take actions to avoid shortcomings. If proper measures are not taken, inferior injection parts will be produced, which will affect the profitability of the project.
