Confucius said, "It's the best thing to be a neighbor of noble people. How can you be smart if you choose a place to live without looking at the environment? "

Although such translations are recorded here, there are other versions. Some scholars say that "benevolence" here does not mean the quality of living, but whether people's inner state is "benevolence".

First of all, ask a question, is the environment important?

The answer is yes. It is said that "people who are close to Zhu Zhechi are all black", which means that what kind of people we are close to and what kind of environment we are in will gradually move closer to them, so there is the famous story of "Three Movements in Meng Mu".

The first is the family environment. What kind of family atmosphere, such as how parents set an example to educate their children, how parents educate their children when they make mistakes, and so on. It may affect what kind of person this child will become in the future. In the past, a dutiful son was born under a stick and was beaten if he disobeyed. With the popularization of education, more and more parents realize the importance of education, so more and more parents begin to learn parenting knowledge. There are many such books, courses and training camps now.

Secondly, the learning environment. Our generation, from childhood to adulthood, spent the longest time with parents, or teachers. Spent a lot of time in the school environment. While learning knowledge at school, we also learned how to get along with teachers and classmates. We know a lot of historical figures from teachers and books. Some people may become role models in our hearts, and this environment also affects what kind of people we become.

Then there is the working environment. Since we entered the school, we have been constantly instilled with the idea of studying hard, finding a good job and making more money in the future. We have only studied in school for more than ten years, but we have to work in the workplace for decades. But before entering the workplace, we already have a certain world outlook and values, and the working environment will generally not have a subversive impact on me. But it's still important. At present, a considerable part of all kinds of enterprise training courses on the internet are talking about system construction and enterprise atmosphere construction. This is actually to create an environment for enterprises, create an environment conducive to improving the efficiency of employees, and let employees create more value for enterprises. There are many methods in it, from which many popular words appear, such as "996", "007", "involution" and so on.

The second question is, can the environment determine what kind of person we become?

I once heard a story about a pair of twin boys who grew up in the same family environment. Their mother died young, their father drank too much and neglected their two children. Many years later, one of the children became a murderer. He was interviewed and asked why this happened. He talked about his childhood experience and what his father was like. At last he said, "What else can I do?" But another child, who became a lawyer and moved to other places for many years, was interviewed and asked why there was such a difference in his brother's situation. He said almost the same thing about his family and his childhood experience.

After reading this story, I can't help asking, why did the same environment and very similar genes make two completely different people?

I think it may be that everyone has a different attitude towards the incident, which leads to their different actions.

Recently rereading The Road to Financial Freedom, the author said that we can't be responsible for everything, but at least we should be responsible for our attitudes and reactions to things.

Our attitude towards things is like colored glasses. What we encounter is like natural light, and so is light. Light beams with multiple frequencies are mixed and shine on us, but what kind of light we see depends on the frequency of light that our glasses allow to reach our eyes.

I feel very gratified that the color of these glasses can be decided by myself. In other words, we can decide what kind of information we can absorb, what kind of person we become, and maybe we can also decide.

Looking back, "Benevolence is beauty. If you choose an unkind person, how can you know? "
