Shanxi Theatre Vocational College, formerly known as Shanxi Theatre School, was founded in 1958. In 2002, with the approval of the Shanxi provincial government and the record of the Ministry of Education, Shanxi Drama Vocational College was merged with Shanxi Drama Research Institute to become a comprehensive higher art vocational college.
The college now offers 15 majors such as opera performance, music performance, dance performance, choreography, film and television performance, hosting and broadcasting, art design, dance design, animation design, photography, tour guide, hotel management, mass culture, and intangible cultural heritage management and protection. There are more than 2,000 students in school, who are divided into two levels: higher vocational and technical secondary schools.
