What majors does optical engineering include?
Optical engineering includes optical design, laser principle and technology, guided wave optics, thin film optics, optical materials and technology, radiation measurement and colorimetry, Fourier optics, optical information processing, nonlinear optics, quantum optics, optical communication principle, measurement, detection and sensing technology, and optical measurement and testing.

1, laser principle and technology:

The course of laser principle and technology is a compulsory basic course for optical information science and technology, photoelectric information engineering and electronic science and technology. The purpose is to enable students to master the basic principle, main technology and the latest application of laser in various fields.

This course mainly includes: brief history of laser development and laser characteristics, basic principle of laser generation, optical resonator and laser mode, Gaussian beam, gain characteristics of laser working substance, laser working characteristics, control and improvement of laser characteristics, typical lasers and so on. The basic principle and main technology of laser are introduced in simple terms.

2. Optical information processing

Optical information procedures-sing is to analyze optical image signals in spatial frequency domain (focal plane of Fourier lens) by using the Fourier transform effect of lens. Filter, extract or enhance the desired image (signal), and filter or suppress the unwanted image (noise).

And performs the whole process of outputting the processed image through the inverse Fourier transform of the lens. Optical information processing is developed on the basis of Fourier optics. The core of Fourier optics is to use lenses or other devices to generate the spatial spectrum of two-dimensional images, so as to process optical signals in frequency domain.

Optical engineering:

Optical engineering refers to a kind of engineering that applies optical theory to practice. Optical engineering designs optical instruments, such as lenses, microscopes and telescopes, and also includes other devices that use optical characteristics. In addition, optical engineering also studies optical sensors and related measurement systems, lasers, optical fiber communication and optical disks (such as CDs and DVDs).
