The archaeological research of Northwest University began from 65438 to 0938 with the investigation and excavation of Zhang Gui's tomb by the Archaeological Group of the History Department of Northwest United University. After the founding of New China, following the general layout of national cultural relics, Northwest University established the second major of archaeology in China on 1956.
After more than 60 years of development, the School of Cultural Heritage of Northwest University has become a first-class archaeological discipline in China with comprehensive professional settings, clear objectives, strong academic team, perfect scientific research conditions and complete personnel training system, and is an important force in cultural relics personnel training and scientific research in China.

The college has a strong faculty, with 47 full-time teachers, with full-time senior titles 14 and deputy senior titles 12. Cultural experts and "four groups" talents 1 person, leading talents in philosophy and social sciences of the national "Ten Thousand Talents Program", talents from Shaanxi Province 1 person, and 3 provincial-level teaching masters.
