Abstract: Zhang Henshui is one of the most representative writers in modern popular literature. Most of his works describe people's cultural living standards in independent and different chapters. Many of his works have been adapted into movies and TV plays, which once aroused strong repercussions in society. As his masterpiece, Jin Yanxi, the protagonist in The Noble Family, is closer to the past, showing more characteristics of the times, and his experience and personality have more similarities with people today. This is a hero with personality and times, which embodies many propositions of native and western, present and future, tradition and anti-tradition, opposition and complementarity. Therefore, it is of profound practical significance to explore the image of Yan Xi.

This paper makes a detailed analysis of Jin Yanxi's love, money, status and outlook on life, and finally draws a conclusion that starting from the tragedy of the hero in the book, it is extended to thinking about reality, which reflects the common problems of young people at present. I hope to arouse the public's sympathy for contemporary culture and avoid such tragedies from being staged in reality.
