I. Geological Specialty Setting

1. Specialty Settings of Geology and Mineral Resources (Engineering)

The School of Civil and Environmental Engineering, University of Science and Technology Beijing, was further evolved from the School of Resource Engineering after the adjustment and merger of the original geology department and mining department in 1995. Since 1995, the former Department of Geology has stopped enrolling undergraduates majoring in geology and mineral exploration. Through the postgraduate teaching and scientific research work of Master of Science in Mineralogy, Petrology and Deposit Science, Master of Mineral Exploration Engineering and Master of Geological Engineering Engineering, the school-running characteristics of the original Geology Department have been continued. The Department of Resource Engineering is a local undergraduate major of mineral resources engineering, which is developed on the basis of the original majors of mining engineering and mineral processing engineering. The enrollment scale is 30 people/year.

2. Undergraduate major setting of earth science related disciplines

Department of Civil Engineering, School of Civil and Environmental Engineering, University of Science and Technology Beijing, majoring in civil engineering. The enrollment scale is 120 person/year. Department of Environmental Engineering, majoring in environmental engineering, enrollment 120 person/year.

3. Discipline and specialty setting for cultivating geoscience postgraduates and postgraduates in geoscience-related disciplines.

(1) Postgraduate discipline of geosciences

Master's courses: mineralogy, petrology, mineral deposit science, mineral survey and exploration.

Master of Engineering: Geological Engineering.

(2) Postgraduate disciplines in related disciplines

Doctoral program: mining engineering (national key discipline), mineral processing engineering, safety technology and engineering, engineering mechanics.

Postdoctoral mobile station: mining engineering.

Master program: mining engineering, mineral processing engineering, engineering mechanics, geotechnical engineering, safety technology and engineering.

Annual enrollment scale: 244 graduate students, 33 doctoral students/kloc-0, and 2 postdoctoral students/kloc-0.

(3) Specialty setting of geoscience postgraduates

Mineralogy, Petrology and Mineral Deposits: This discipline was originally awarded with the Master of Science degree in mineralogy approved by the State Council Academic Degrees Committee, and 1998 was renamed as its present name. Main research interests: comprehensive utilization of inorganic nonmetallic mineral materials, industrial solid waste, inclusion mineralogy, mineral processing technology, metallurgical process mineralogy, gemmology and mineral modification. On the basis of the organization of geological laboratory and resource (geology) laboratory in the Department of Resource Engineering, this discipline has mineral and rock deposit laboratory, mineral material laboratory, inclusion mineral laboratory and lithofacies laboratory.

Master's degree program in mineral exploration engineering: This discipline program is a master's degree awarding program approved by the State Council Academic Degrees Committee 1984. Its main research directions: mineral deposit science and oil and gas field resource prediction, mineral economics, mathematical geology, application of GIS in resource exploration, and mine geology. This topic is organized by the Geological Research Office and the Resources (Geology) Laboratory of the Department of Resource Engineering.

Master of Geological Engineering: Its research direction covers the research direction of the above two master's disciplines, and trains senior professionals who can solve practical problems by using the theoretical methods of earth science and social science for national geological and mineral departments and enterprises.

Second, the status quo of geological teachers and team building

The structure of teachers engaged in geology-related teaching and scientific research in the College of Civil and Environmental Engineering: 5 professors, 7 associate professors and 2 lecturers; There are 4 doctoral supervisors and 7 master supervisors. The age structure is mainly young and middle-aged teachers. Six young and middle-aged teachers received doctorates. At present, a team of highly educated and high-quality teachers with doctors as the main body has been formed, which has become one of the advantages of running a school. Thomas lee, He Zhili, Chen Xilian, Liu, Zhao, Ren Yunfu and Li Ganmao all taught here. The current professors are Yuan Huaiyu, Winnie and Xu Jiuhua.

Third, the characteristics and advantages of running a school

In accordance with the guiding ideology of "inheriting characteristics, pioneering and innovating" and the overall development idea, based on the characteristics and advantages of the original traditional disciplines such as geology, mining and mineral processing, and according to the demand of national economic development for talents, the college expands its professional fields and cultivates engineering talents with solid foundation and strong adaptability. At the same time, in recent years, the state has increased its investment in higher education, and the software and hardware environment is undergoing obvious changes. In addition to a solid foundation, students have strengthened their computer application ability and comprehensive application of multidisciplinary knowledge. In terms of teaching management, the college pays attention to the standardization of teaching, implements the dual mechanism of supervision and encouragement, and has formed the school-running characteristics of "respecting teachers and attaching importance to teaching and standardizing development", thus ensuring the continuous improvement of teaching quality and the steady development of discipline construction, and a number of young and middle-aged teaching backbones have emerged.

In the compilation of geoscience textbooks, the teaching of basic theories, basic knowledge and basic skills is emphasized, and the universality and practicability of textbooks are emphasized, and new cases and methods are constantly enriched according to the progress of disciplines. In recent years, the newly compiled textbooks include Geology and Introduction to Mineral Materials Science.

Fourth, discipline construction.

Strive to build "mineralogy, petrology, mineral deposit science" and "mineral investigation and exploration" into doctoral programs.

Verb (abbreviation of verb) laboratory construction

1) In terms of rock and mineral testing technology, on the basis of purchasing THMS600 hot and cold table produced by Linkam Company, purchasing TS 1500 hot table can not only study the heating state of natural minerals and inclusions, but also be used to observe the microscopic heating process of artificial materials.

2) In terms of advanced technologies of GPS and GIS, it is planned to purchase "GPS4600" or "SR 510" GPS total station, laser rangefinder TC 1 102, small DocketGIS locator, etc. Add GIS software, and plan to add TitanGIS software and Titan Scanin software produced by Titan Oriental Company in Canada.

3) Joint construction of inorganic nonmetallic mineral materials and civil laboratories.

4) In the construction of geological museum, there are hundreds of sets of more than 20,000 specimens of minerals, rocks, mineral deposits, structures and paleontology, including mineral showrooms, rock showrooms and mineral resources showrooms.

5) Construction of environmental minerals and environmental engineering laboratory.

Overview of scientific research on intransitive verbs since the Ninth Five-Year Plan

Since the Ninth Five-Year Plan, he has undertaken more than 20 scientific research projects, including 3 national natural science foundations, 3 national key projects, and ministerial-level projects 10, with research funding of 2 million yuan. Among them, 10 passed the ministerial appraisal and won the ministerial scientific research achievement award. The main research directions include: ① mineral deposit science and resource prospect evaluation; (2) Mineral economics; ③ Mathematical geology; ④ Inorganic nonmetallic mineral materials; ⑤ Study on environmental mineralogy and comprehensive utilization of industrial solid waste; ⑥ Application of fluid inclusions; ⑦ Mineral processing mineralogy and comprehensive utilization of mineral resources. More than 20 high-level papers are published every year, including 3-5 retrieval papers such as SCI and EI. There are four affiliated academic institutions at all levels, including Asia-Pacific International Fluid Inclusion Society and Technical Rock Branch of China Silicate Society.

Seven. International exchange and cooperation

The School of Civil and Environmental Engineering has established cooperative relations with more than 20 universities and research institutions in the United States, Britain, Japan, Australia, Canada, Sweden, Russia, Ukraine and other countries.
