My master and I are mainly responsible for French customers. This French company is large in scale and deals in a variety of products, including knitted garments, woven garments and jewelry. Qingdao representative office is mainly responsible for the procurement of clothing, and we mainly cooperate with guests to knit clothing. Before we formally cooperate, we will sign an agreement on the terms of payment, trade terms and breach of contract. In the future cooperation, we only need to quote the product, as long as our price is close to the target price of the customer, we can receive the customer's order (PO), so it is very important for this customer to quote the product quarterly. At the beginning of the new season, guests will mail dozens of quotations one after another and inform us to go to the guest's office to get the special fabrics for these clothes. This means that our quotation should not only be low, but also find this fabric to get this order. Because the exchange rate has changed greatly this year, and the exchange rate has been decreasing, there is also inflation in China. To describe the current situation in popular terms is that RMB is worthless at home and valuable abroad. This makes it more difficult for us to quote, and if the exchange rate is estimated incorrectly, it will bring losses.
After the order is confirmed, we will contact the factory, place an order for the factory and sign a domestic procurement contract. Next, we will bring color samples, cloth samples, prenatal samples and confirmation samples. Many samples must be revised repeatedly to meet the requirements of the guests. Every time you bring a sample, you should carefully understand the customer's requirements for the sample to ensure that the sample can pass at one time. After receiving the sample comments, they should be accurately translated and conveyed to the factory. Sometimes, because of misunderstanding the opinions of the guests, they are wrongly conveyed to the factory, causing great losses to the factory and itself.
This customer's delivery time is very scattered, and it will be delivered almost every week. I travel between factories, freight forwarders and stations every Thursday for customs declaration, which is also the busiest time for me and the time for me to learn the most. I remember that one week we sent two large containers of goods. These clothes are not the same style. There are babies, children and women. Customs has different regulatory requirements for different types of clothes, so these clothes have to apply for seven export licenses. Every Thursday morning is the customs declaration time. In order to ensure the smooth progress of the goods, I made all the boxes, invoices and contracts needed for customs declaration on Wednesday morning, and also informed the customs broker to come and get the documents. I thought the customs declaration would be smooth this time. But it wasn't long before the customs broker received the document and called me to tell me that the customs declaration form can only contain one permit. I have no choice but to make seven copies of the document in a hurry. But as soon as I sent the revised documents to the customs broker, he called me and told me that the price on the license was the lowest price, and the price on the invoice and contract must be lower than that on the license. I was a little panicked. The forwarder asked us to declare to the customs on Thursday, otherwise we would be dumped. I can't help it I am in a hurry to adjust the price. Fortunately, there was no mistake this time. This Thursday is the most stressful one in my internship. But I also learned a lot from it, and learned a lot of knowledge. Sometimes a small mistake of my own will lead to a claim from the customer, and sometimes the inconsistent documents will lead to the deletion of the goods that have been reported to the customs. Seemingly careless, the consequences are serious. Although I learned a lot about customs declaration and document preparation at school, I really found that the knowledge I learned was quite different from the practical application. Although some people in the company are less educated than themselves, they should not be despised. Their experience is beyond our years of school life. We should always be modest and prudent.
As a newcomer to the company, business trip is the most exciting thing for me. In my opinion, business trip is a good job, which can not only enjoy the scenery outside and see many new things I have never seen before, but also avoid being stuck in the office all day. So whenever I go on a business trip, I will be very happy. After several business trips, I found that this is not the case. Our business trip is mainly to take the guest's inspector to the factory for inspection, and the result of inspection is directly related to whether we can deliver the goods on time. It is easy to say that the goods are ok, but sometimes the goods in the factory are in a hurry, and there will be problems such as oil pollution, broken lines and forgetting to sew and wash labels. These problems are still minor, and the factory owner can repair them and deliver them. However, some factories change the color of buttons or collars without authorization during mass production. Even if they are for the beauty of the clothes, they are not allowed without the confirmation of the guests out of kindness, and will be claimed by the guests. In this serious situation, it is impossible for the factory to make any further modifications. It depends on our understanding of the production and quality of clothing and our ability to make decisions on the spot, so that such goods will not be claimed after export. After traveling on business, I dare not hold the mentality of going out to play again, and the guests will look carefully when inspecting the goods. See how the guests inspect the goods, mainly check which aspects of the clothes, and keep them in mind carefully. The button on the neckline at the back of the clothes needs a vanishing pen, and the handwriting of this vanishing pen will disappear after 7 days. However, due to the urgency of this shipment, it is only one day after our inspection, and the handwriting of the disappearing pen will naturally not disappear. At that time, the inspector asked me how the handwriting of the disappeared pen was there. I have never heard of the disappearing pen. I can't answer this question. I have to throw away those clothes whose handwriting has disappeared. I went back to the company and asked the master to know that the disappearing handwriting would disappear automatically after 7 days. If I had understood this problem earlier, this kind of problem would not have appeared. In order to prevent this kind of problem from happening in the future, I am also accumulating knowledge about clothing.
The five-month internship seems to be a long time, but it passed in a blink of an eye. From the beginning, I was unfamiliar with the world, and now I am handy. When I first entered the company, everything seemed so strange that I had no confidence in doing anything and couldn't let go. There are many new things to learn and adapt by yourself. I work outside alone. I felt bored and homesick for the first few days. In the school's TMT simulation internship, I always fill in incompletely every time, holding the attitude of "it's not a real trade anyway, it doesn't matter if it's wrong", and often don't take the documents seriously. After this training, I have been able to fill in some commonly used import and export documents independently, correctly and skillfully.
After two months of work, my English level, the operation of making documents and the level of writing letters and telegrams have all been improved. In practice, I deeply realized that there are many intermediate links in international trade, covering a wide range, including commodity inspection, transportation, insurance, finance, stations, ports and customs departments. If something goes wrong, it will affect the normal conduct of the whole transaction and may cause legal disputes. So I think we should study more related courses and use all the knowledge comprehensively. For example, I also want to master the knowledge of commodity discipline from the aspects of quality, quantity and packaging of commodities; In terms of commodity prices, I should also learn information about price science, international finance and monetary banking; In international cargo transportation and insurance, I also want to read books on transportation and insurance; In terms of disputes, breach of contract, claims and force majeure, I want to know the relevant laws. In order to meet the needs of the development of international trade, I should also read more materials such as Incoterms, Uniform Rules for Collection and Uniform Customs and Practice for Documentary Letters of Credit. These rules have become recognized general international trade practices in current international trade, widely understood and often used by people, and become the code of conduct for practitioners in international trade.
