What are the format requirements for publishing papers in journals?
In order to successfully publish a journal article, we must first ensure the quality of the article, and then we can enter the process of submission and publication, so as to achieve the goal of successful publication. We need to fully understand the format requirements, how to standardize the completion of each part, and what are the requirements for fonts and typesetting, so as to ensure the standardization of the whole process of general journal papers and thus ensure the final quality.

The format of papers with complete structure and content is also one of the important factors that editors pay attention to when submitting to journals. No matter how good the content and quality of a paper are, if the format of the submission is chaotic or far from the requirements of the journal, at least the editor will feel "sincerity" visually.

Therefore, it is very necessary to modify the format as required before submission. So, where can I find the format requirements of journals for submission?

0 1

The first way is to find the periodical official website. Periodicals in official website generally have a column on the website entitled "Notes for Submission", which will explain in detail the requirements for font size.

For example, official website's "Sociological Research" in the column of "Submission Requirements" clearly requires detailed requirements for the structure, title, tables, charts, formulas, footnotes and other contents of the paper.

Official website's "Instructions for Submission" of Financial Research only puts forward the requirements of word number and structure, and says nothing about other aspects.

You really need to format the paper according to the requirements of the journal before submitting it! For example, Financial Research clearly stated that "those that do not meet the requirements shall be treated as rejected manuscripts".

The second way is to obtain the "Instructions for Submission" published by the target journal from China HowNet.

For example, the China Youth Research puts forward detailed requirements for the format of the papers submitted.

03

Some journals may not have as detailed requirements for manuscripts as Financial Research and China Youth Research, involving font size and so on. But for references, there are generally requirements. Although there is a unified standard for the description of references in the Rules for the Description of Information and Literature References (GB/T 77 14-20 15), the methods of marking references in journals are not uniform, and even there is a big gap.

For example, the reference of financial research is in accordance with the requirements of "Information and Literature Reference Recording Rules".

However, Journal of China Agricultural University (Social Science Edition) is quite different.

The references in "Political Studies" are not only different from other journals in the way of marking, but also in the form of footnotes instead of at the end of the article.

Many journals don't have official website, or official website didn't explicitly put forward the format requirements, and the detailed requirements for journal publishing can't be found in China Knowledge Network. What about this situation?

You can check the latest issue of the journal and download a paper through HowNet to find out what the requirements of the published paper are in terms of framework, content, number of words, font size and references. Especially if there are special contents such as charts and formulas in your paper, you'd better find out what the requirements for the corresponding contents are in the published papers of this journal.

For example, through a paper published in distance education journal, we can get a general idea:

At the title level, "one, (one)" is used. The format of "1 1. 1" is not suitable for submission;

The text of the paper is close to 10 page, so the number of words is about 10 thousand words. If you submit a paper of several thousand words, it will definitely not meet the "appetite" of the journal;

There are English abstracts and keywords at the end of the paper, which shows that journals have requirements for this. Therefore, English abstracts and keywords should be prepared when submitting papers, and they should be placed at the end of the paper according to the style of the paper.

Chinese abstracts and keywords are italicized, which is different from the text font.

By observing this paper, we can clearly understand the above information. Before submitting, make a comparative revision before submitting.
