Fourth, the advantages and characteristics of running a school

Contemporary human society faces three major problems: population, resources and environment. If human beings want to maintain their own survival, reproduction and sustainable development, they must make full use of the ocean, which accounts for more than 7 1% of the total area of the earth and is a blue territory to be developed on the earth. Therefore, marine rights and interests, marine resources, marine environment and marine development have become the focus of universal attention in the world. Especially with the continuous progress of science and technology and the increasing scarcity of land resources, the international competition around the ocean will be more intense than at any time in history. Therefore, it is urgent for our country to strengthen marine geological research, train a large number of marine geological talents and participate in the international competition in the marine century.

Human beings live and engage in various production activities on the earth, and all means of subsistence and production must be taken from the earth. In order to better acquire and protect the earth's resources, human beings must know the earth. Modern earth science believes that to understand the earth, we must first understand the ocean. As a natural science closely related to the seabed and marine lithosphere, marine geological science will not only continue to play a key role in solving the sustainable development of resources, environment and human beings, but also become a frontier discipline to explore the mysteries of the deep sea and understand the laws of earth movement.

China Ocean University is one of the universities that entered the "2 1 1 project" earlier in China. Building Ocean University into a high-level characteristic university is the requirement and practical action to implement the Outline of Education Reform and Development in China. According to the spirit of Vice Premier Li Lanqing's instruction that Qingdao Ocean University is a characteristic school, we should continue to run it with characteristics. The Ministry of Education, the Shandong Provincial Government, the Qingdao Municipal Government and the State Oceanic Administration officially launched the * * * construction project of Ocean University, which will lay a solid foundation for improving the running conditions of Ocean University and developing marine characteristics.

Shandong Province is a big maritime province in China. Since the implementation of 10 for many years, the "Maritime Shandong" construction project has achieved gratifying results. Qingdao is not only a city with concentrated marine scientific and technological strength, but also a coastal city with superior natural environment and living environment. It has unique conditions to strengthen international and domestic marine geological science and technology exchanges and attract domestic and foreign marine geological science and technology talents. In addition, the opening of Rushan Campus of China Ocean University and the upcoming opening of Laoshan Campus will provide good development opportunities and superior spatial advantages for the development of the College of Marine Geology.

Verb (abbreviation of verb) discipline construction

With the implementation of the spirit of "Outline of Education Reform and Development in China" and the in-depth discussion of emancipating the mind and educational ideas, the school's thinking is clearer, and the basic thinking of "striving to highlight marine characteristics, earnestly strengthening geological foundation, optimizing resource allocation internally and giving play to group advantages externally" has been established, and the school-running goal of "strengthening foundation, broadening majors, strengthening practice and educating quality" has been practiced hard. The main measures are as follows: ① Strengthen the mathematical foundation of students majoring in marine geology, and change the three types of mathematics of geological specialty into 1 type mathematics, so as to improve the lifelong education and postgraduate entrance examination ability of graduates; (2) Breaking through the barriers between exploration technology and engineering specialty, geology and engineering geology specialty, integrating some courses of marine geology and engineering geology into exploration technology and engineering specialty, broadening the employment channels for postgraduate entrance examination, which is well received by employers; ③ Attach importance to practical teaching and enhance students' dynamic ability. In order to ensure the safe and efficient implementation of field teaching practice, the effect of field practice was evaluated by combining students' field performance with practice results, and the time of teaching practice was adjusted from hot summer to April, which improved the practice efficiency and ensured the quality of field practice. (4) Conscientiously implement the spirit of the document of the Ministry of Education 12, adhere to the principle that professors give lectures on the platform, actively encourage teachers to discuss teaching methods, regularly carry out multimedia teaching and watch performances, and actively encourage teachers to carry out teaching research and write teaching research papers; ⑤ Actively encourage teachers to compile and publish high-quality teaching materials with marine characteristics. Teachers in our college have published textbooks with distinctive marine characteristics such as Marine Geochemistry, Marine Authigenic Minerals, Modern Marine Geology, Marine Geology, Coastal Engineering Environment and Quaternary Environmental Evolution. With the implementation of the above measures, the teaching level of undergraduate students in the college has improved obviously, and the admission rate of graduate students has increased year by year. At present, the average postgraduate entrance examination rate is 30%, and the highest is 50%. The one-time employment rate has increased year by year, reaching 100% in 2003.

Six, laboratory construction

The college has a ministerial key laboratory and a provincial key laboratory. Among them, seabed resources and exploration technology is a key laboratory at the ministerial level, and its research directions are seabed resources and mineralization, geophysical exploration and information processing technology, seabed sedimentation and engineering environment; The basic teaching laboratory of geology is a first-class laboratory in Shandong province, with experimental directions such as general geology, mineralogy, petrology, geological history and paleontology.

Seven. A Summary of Scientific Research since the Ninth Five-Year Plan

In recent years, due to the improvement of the construction level of teachers, the scientific research work of the college has developed rapidly, and the funds for scientific research projects have doubled. Scientific research projects range from land to sea, from horizontal to vertical, from low to high, from small to large. At present, there are more than 30 research projects in our institute, including 2 national special projects, 2 "973" projects, 6 "863" projects, 4 national natural science foundation projects/kloc-0, and 3 Shandong natural science foundation projects. During the Tenth Five-Year Plan period, the college has invested more than 50 million yuan in scientific research funds. The Institute has made great contributions to the development of Shandong by science and technology, the site selection of Shandong nuclear power station, the investigation of optical cable routing between China and South Korea, the establishment of sediment erosion and deposition stability model of the Yellow River, and the study of sediment stability in Chengdao sea area of Shengli Oilfield. At present, the main scientific research projects undertaken by the College include the Northwest Pacific Environmental Investigation Project undertaken by Professor Zhai Shikui (national special control project,160,000 yuan), the "Development of 6000m submarine cable observation and sampling system-TV grab" undertaken by Professor Zhao Guangtao (863 project, 2.68 million yuan) and the "FIA sensor and long-term fixed-point detection technology of marine metallogenic environment" undertaken by Professor Cao Zhimin (863).

1) Cao Zhimin and others obtained the second prize for scientific and technological progress in Sichuan Province (1995), the second prize for scientific and technological achievements of the former Ministry of Geology and Mineral Resources (1998) and the third prize for national scientific and technological progress (10) by dissecting the world's first tellurium independent deposit discovered in Sichuan, China. Tellurium can not only form independent deposits, but also form large-scale rich deposits under some favorable geological structural factors, geochemistry and physical and chemical conditions, which is of great scientific value to metallogenic theory and geochemical research.

2) Research on Prediction Technology of Typical Estuary Erosion and Siltation Disasters, Yang Zuosheng et al., 200 1. The project achievements were jointly rated as outstanding scientific and technological achievements of the national key scientific and technological research plan in the Ninth Five-Year Plan by the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Finance, the State Planning Commission and the State Economic and Trade Commission. The special study of the Yellow River estuary was completed, and the whole process of sediment density flowing into the sea was observed for the first time, revealing the periodic characteristics and action mechanism, and establishing a new model of sediment density flow in the estuary. The control system model and artificial neural network model of erosion and deposition evolution reflecting the influence of the Yellow River cutoff are established. The first dynamic model of multi-factor erosion and deposition prediction of estuary sediment and environment is established. The research results have achieved good results in the management of the Yellow River Delta.

3) Investigation and Evaluation of Shallow Water Engineering and Its Application in Chengdao Oilfield (application achievement), Jiang Xiaodian, etc. , 200 1, the project won the second prize of scientific and technological progress of the Ministry of Education. This is an applied research project, which is the result of many years' technical service in the shallow sea development of Shengli Oilfield (Chengdao Oilfield). Chengdao Oilfield is the only large-scale shallow sea oilfield independently developed in China, with an annual output of more than 2 million tons of crude oil. During the development of this oilfield, our school has completed more than 10 safety projects for well site and platform construction, with the project amount exceeding 10 million yuan, which has made outstanding contributions to the development of the oilfield and created more than 2 million yuan for the school.

4) Research on sedimentary mechanism of modern Yellow River Delta (theoretical achievements), Li Guang Studies, etc. Published 10 papers in foreign journals, including 6 SCI papers and 4 EI papers, and won the first prize of Qingdao Excellent Academic Papers and the third prize of Shandong Natural Science. The dynamic deposition mechanism of the modern Yellow River estuary is studied in detail, and the shear front in the coastal area of the Yellow River estuary is found, which proves that the shear front is one of the main dynamic reasons for the rapid deposition of the Yellow River estuary. It is proved that there is a tidal sensitive section in the estuary, and the dynamic and sedimentary laws of the tidal sensitive section in the tidal cycle are studied. This paper demonstrates the rheological characteristics of the lower reaches of the Yellow River under the condition of high sediment concentration, studies and puts forward the flow pattern changes of the rivers in the Yellow River Delta under the condition of high sediment concentration, and reveals the particularity of the flow structure of the Yellow River with high sediment concentration.

5) The book Magma and Submarine Hydrothermal Activity published by Professor Zhai Shikui in 200 1 won the second prize of the Ministry of Education for Scientific and Technological Progress in 2003 (2002-088). This book systematically discusses the new achievements and new understanding of magmatism and modern submarine hydrothermal activity in Okinawa Trough. Modern submarine hydrothermal activity is an international hotspot that has developed rapidly in recent ten years. Hydrothermal polymetallic deposits are seabed mineral resources discovered after oceanic manganese nodules, which have great development prospects. The interaction among hydrothermal fluid, ocean sediments and ocean basalt is an important factor affecting the global circulation of chemical elements, and the influence of submarine hydrothermal activity on the chemical composition of seawater is likely to be no less than that of mainland rivers entering the sea. Studying the chemical composition of hydrothermal solution can be used to judge the chemical reaction in the deep underground and further clarify the geological process of temperature and pressure conditions beyond our sampling ability; The concepts of submarine hydrothermal organisms, dark biological chains and deep biosphere and their research results have greatly influenced the traditional understanding of major scientific issues such as the origin of life, and may lead to the establishment of new theories. Therefore, this work will certainly contribute to the study of submarine petrology and modern submarine hydrothermal activity in China.

Eight. International exchange and cooperation

According to the idea of "facing the world, facing the future and facing modernization", the College has established extensive scientific research cooperation relations with the United States, Japan, Canada, Australia, Germany, Norway and other countries in the Yellow River Estuary, the Yangtze River Estuary, the East China Sea, the Okinawa Trough and the Pacific Ocean. During the Ninth Five-Year Plan period, the Institute successfully held the "China-Japan Groundwater Academic Exchange Conference". Foreign experts have been invited to the institute for academic exchanges many times. At present, there are six young and middle-aged teachers studying abroad. The college has established long-term international exchanges with foreign academic groups and appointed experts to hold certain positions. Among them, Professor Zhai Shikui is a member of the China Committee of the International Committee for Marine Scientific Research, and the leader of the working group on modern seafloor hydrothermal activity and mineralization in China.
