(Text Typesetting of Graduation Thesis (1))
Third, the different requirements for the header and footer:
(1) Header Settings:
Generally, the first page (cover page) and the second page (title page) have no header, and the header is only set after the summary. Moreover, the contents of each section (such as "summary", "table of contents" and "body chapter") also need different titles. Specific operation steps:
1, "Page One" and "Page Two" do nothing without headers.
2. To set a different title, do the following:
① Place the cursor at the top of the page where you want to set different headers: menu bar-Insert-Delimiter-(Delimiter dialog box appears)-section break Type-Continuous-OK;
(Some versions of Word only have the option of inserting "Next Page": ①. Place the cursor at the end of the previous page with different titles: menu bar-Insert-Delimiter-section break Type-Next Page-OK. );
(Sometimes, if you want to set the contents of different headers on the same page, you can insert "Next Page" instead of changing to a new page first. But the habit of paper typesetting is to write the paper first and then typeset it. To set the contents of different headers, it is often divided into two pages, so this situation is rare. Do not advocate, afraid of chaos! )
② Menu bar-View-Header and Footer-(the "Header and Footer" floating toolbar appears)
-Put the cursor on the header of this page and click "Link to Previous Page" on the floating toolbar (the button is "Two Parallel Pages") to make "Same as the previous section" disappear in the upper right corner of the header virtual box;
③ If there are different header requirements, repeat the above settings of "2, ①, ②";
(4) Enter the content in the title set of each section.
⑤ Close the Header and Footer Floating Toolbar.
In addition, after the "header" is inserted, a thin horizontal line will appear under the header by default in the Word system to distinguish the "header" from the "text". When some colleges and universities stipulate that horizontal lines or other horizontal lines are not allowed, the following settings can be made:
Double-click the header-click the menu bar on the page-Format-Borders and Shading-(Borders and Shading dialog box appears)-Borders-Uncheck; Or "Custom"-Linetype: select the appropriate one; Applicable to: paragraphs; Then click on the bottom of the "Preview" diagram (the other three sides are not selected) -OK.
(2) Footer Settings:
The "page number" in the footer is not entered manually. But it must be the default page number of the "insert" system, so that there will be dynamic changes.
Papers often have such requirements for footers: "the first page (cover page)" and "the second page (title page)" do not insert page numbers; Page numbers of "Abstract" and "Contents" use Roman numerals I, II, III, ...; The page number of "text" should be Arabic numerals 1, 2, 3, ... Specific operation steps:
1, "Page One" and "Page Two" do nothing without inserting page numbers.
2. Use Roman numerals I, II, III, ... For the page numbers of "Abstract" and "Table of Contents", please do the following:
① Place the cursor at the top of the summary: menu bar-Insert-Delimiter-section break Type-Continuous-OK.
(If you insert a "separator" when setting a new header on the page, you can omit this step. )
② Menu bar-View-Header and Footer (header and footer floating toolbar appears)-Place the cursor at the footer of the abstract, and click the link to previous page (button is "two parallel pages") on the floating toolbar to make the "same as the previous section" disappear in the upper right corner of the footer virtual box.
③ Click "Set Page Number Format" (the button is "Hand Page")-(Page Number Format dialog box appears)-Page Number Format: drop down and select "I, II, III, ..."; Page number-Select "Starting Page Number": Modify "1"-OK.
④ Click "Insert Page Number" (the button is "A # on paper").
⑤ Close the Header and Footer Floating Toolbar.
3. Use Arabic numerals 1, 2, 3, ... from "Text" and do the following:
① Place the cursor at the top of "Text" and repeat the setting of "2, ①" above.
② Menu bar-View-Header and Footer-Place the cursor in the footer of the text and repeat the settings of "2" and "2" above.
③ Click "Format Page Number"-Number Format: drop down and select "1, 2,3, ..."; Page number-Select "Starting Page Number": Modify "1"at the same time-OK.
④ ⑤ Follow the operation of "2, ④ ⑤" above.
(3) Headers and footers of even and odd pages:
Some papers require odd-numbered page headers to enter general titles, and even-numbered pages to enter chapter titles respectively. Or, in order to facilitate the review after binding, it is required that the odd pages are numbered to the right and the even pages are numbered to the left. You need to select the layout of "different parity pages" and make specific settings.
Menu bar-File-Page Setup-Layout: Different even and odd pages (check)-OK.
1, odd and even page headers:
Odd page header: no need to set it on the first page. Click on the menu bar-View-Header and Footer-Click on the header (you can see the words "Odd Page Header-1-" displayed in the upper left corner of the header)-Enter the content directly (general title).
If you need to set the text to be different from the cover, you must first insert a separator (refer to the special operation above).
2. Even header:
(1) Section 1 Even Page Header:
Refer to the odd page header, click the header (you can see the words "even page header -Section 1-" displayed in the upper left corner of the header)-and directly enter the chapter title;
(2) Even page headers in Section 2:
Place the cursor at the end of the odd page above-menu bar-Insert-Delimiter-Delimiter Type-Even Page-and confirm.
Menu bar-View-Header and Footer-Click on the header (you can see the words "Even Page Header-Section 2-"displayed in the upper left corner of the header)-Click "Link to Previous Page" on the toolbar (the button is "Two Parallel Pages") to make "Same as the previous section" disappear in the upper right corner of the header virtual box-and then enter the chapter title.
3. Even and odd page footers:
Refer to the above operation to insert a page number-select a page number-and click "Align Right" on the page format bar.
However, after inserting page numbers into odd pages, odd pages will display 1, 3, 5, ... while even pages should display 2, 4, 6, ... but the interval page numbers are empty. At this point, place the cursor in the footer of even pages-click Insert Page Number in the toolbar-and then click Align Left.
(four) the special page format "65438 pages +0 * * *? Page "Settings:
Some colleges and universities have special requirements for footers, that is, the page number of the text should be "Page 65438 +0 * * *?" The page said.
For general operation, just click the Insert AutoText (first button) drop-down menu on the header and footer floating toolbar, and then select Page X * * * Y.
However, the default "***Y pages" in Word system is the total number of pages in the whole document. As the requirement for the footer of a paper is that the page numbers of "abstract", "table of contents" and "text" should be represented by Roman numerals I, II, III, … and 1, 2, 3, … respectively, counting from "1". Assume that the total number of pages in the whole document is 50 pages, excluding cover, title page, abstract, table of contents, etc. (Assuming 5 pages), the remaining text pages are only 45 pages. You can simply manually enter "***45 pages", but the text content will be modified at any time, so you have to manually modify "***Y pages". As mentioned above, the page number must be the default page number of the Insert system in order to change dynamically. This problem, it is necessary to use "domain code":
The setting of different footers has been described in detail in "(2) 2" above, and will not be repeated here.
Among them, ① ② ③ refer to the above-mentioned "(2) 2, ② ③" operation.
(4) Click Insert AutoText (the first button of the header and footer floating toolbar), and select Page X ***Y from the drop-down menu. At this time, the page number is displayed as "Page 65438 +0 ***50".
⑤ Press Alt+F9, and the page number will be converted into the field code, which will become: "page {page} * * {numpages}".
⑥ Copy the domain code symbol to make it "Page {PAGE} * * * {{NUMPAGES}}" (note that the symbol cannot be directly entered from the keyboard), and modify the item to "page {page} * {= {numpages}-5}" (note the front of "=" and ").
⑦ Press Alt+F9 again, and the field code is converted into an intuitive page number, which is successfully changed to "1 ***45 pages".
Finally, close the Header and Footer Floating Toolbar.
(5) Handling of misoperation:
Sometimes, due to misoperation, many "separators (section break)" are randomly inserted in the document, but I don't know where and how many. There will be such a situation: either the "header (page number)" cannot be linked, or it goes up and down to the upper (lower) section. If one error is deleted, other well-set "headers (page numbers)" will be deleted.
In this case, you can handle it like this:
1. Menu bar-Tools-Options-View-Format Mark-All (Check)-OK;
2. Look at the random "section break" that has been "exposed" in the document-put the cursor in front-press the Delete key to delete them one by one;
(Or: Menu Bar-View-Normal-Select "section break"-Delete)
3. Turn off "Format Tag All"-reinsert "Delimiter" and set "Header (Footer)".
Fourth, generate the directory:
(a) the insertion of the general directory:
Don't manually enter the directory, it must be automatically generated by the system. Press Ctrl+ directory title to find the corresponding text content.
Because a lot of work has been done in "2, 6" above, it is easy to operate here. The overall operation is:
1. Menu bar-View-Select Page View.
(Maybe many people like to choose Page view. Here, you can get the effect of "what you see is what you get" again by using this view.
2. In the text, set the chapter titles as the "table of contents" in the system format (such as title 1, title 2, title 3, ...), and you can also set the font, font size, alignment, spacing and other formats as required. According to your operating proficiency, there are several setting methods:
(1) Select the title as the title of the table of contents format column style (left font): drop down and select the desired title style. This is the "2,6" mentioned above. Set Style-Font-Font Size.
② Press "①", set the title-click the title-toolbar-format brush (the button is "brush")-and then click "brush" respectively to become the titles of the same level directories. This ensures that the set font and font size are the same.
(3) Press CTRL- Select the titles of the same-level directories respectively (multiple selections)-and then press Ctrl+Alt+ 1. It will be done at once. (where "1, 2, 3 ..." is the title level)
3. Place the cursor where you want to insert the directory: first enter the word "directory", and then press enter- menu bar-Insert-Reference-Index and Directory-(the "Index and Directory" dialog box appears)-Directory: default setting or set as required-OK.
It is said that it can be set from "menu bar-view-tools-outline", but things that are not included in the directory are often included. After inserting the directory, it can be detected by "updating the whole directory" (see below).
Radish and cabbage have their own tastes.
(two) special directory page number setting:
Sometimes, schools require the format of text page numbers to be-1-, -2-, -3-, ... and so on. , and the directory page number should adopt the same format: 1, 2, 3, ..., so it is necessary to set it specially:
1. First, set the page number format of the text. Click Format Page Number-Number Format: drop down on the header and footer toolbar and select "1, 2,3, ...".
2. Click the page number "1"-enter the left and right bars "-"(just enter a page number, and the page number of the same section below will default to its setting; Other formats are the same), then the page numbers are:-1-, -2-, -3-, ...
3. Generate the table of contents according to the method of inserting the table of contents in (1) above, so that the page number of the table of contents is: 1, 2, 3, ...
(3) update the directory:
After the directory is generated, the contents of the document may sometimes be modified due to addition or deletion, but as long as it is automatically generated, it can be automatically updated:
Place the cursor on the automatically generated table of contents-right-click-update fields-(the Update Table of Contents dialog box appears)-click to update only page numbers or update the entire table of contents as needed-OK.
After the above four settings, the text typesetting of the whole graduation thesis is completed.
Finally, I wish all graduates complete their college studies smoothly and find suitable jobs and desirable partners. I wish you both a fruitful relationship and career!
