The Story of Su Shi and Fo Yin
After Su Shi took over as the judge in Hangzhou, he immediately went to his post, spent the night in Lu Xiao, and went to Moganshan, Zhejiang, where he decided to take a break and have some fun.

Su Shi used to wear official clothes with a jade belt around his waist, but in order not to attract attention, he added a piece of cloth to the official clothes. When he climbed Mount Mogan, he saw a temple in the distance and walked towards it. The abbot of this temple is Kongkong, a famous monk in contemporary times, and his name is Fo Yin. When Fo Yin saw Su Shi's plain clothes, he thought he was an ordinary tourist, but he didn't take him seriously. Seeing Su Shi looking around, he pointed to a stone pedestal in the temple and said coldly, "Sit down!"

Su Shi sat in the seat pointed by Fo Yin. Fo Yin saw Su Shi sit down without saying anything, and waved to the young monk as usual: "Tea!" Soon, the young monk handed the tea tray to Su Shi, but Su Shi still didn't speak. He put the cup in his hand, tasted it twice, and then answered Fo Yin. He first inquired about the history of the temple, and then commented on several stone tablets and inscriptions preserved in the temple. Fo Yin gradually felt that the tourist was well informed and thought that there might be some origins, so he invited Su Shi to talk in the wing.

When he arrived at the wing, Fo Yin humbly said to Su Shi, "Please sit down!" He also ordered the young monk: "Tea!" Ask Su Shi's high surname again.

When Fo Yin learned that the bearer was a famous person, he was shocked and invited to the living room for a long talk.

As soon as he entered the living room, Fo Yin stepped forward, brushed the dust off the tables and chairs with his sleeves, bowed to attention, folded his hands and said respectfully, "Please sit down!" He straightened his neck and shouted to the young monk, "Here's to fragrant tea!" " Once in-depth conversation, both of them were fascinated by each other's extraordinary talent and profound knowledge. Su Shi knew that Fo Yin had the talent of knowing the world, so he advised him to be an official. When Fo Yin saw something on Su Shi's casual clothes that looked like an official seal, he had an idea and said, "I have a pair of couplets. If you are right, it is still negotiable to be an official. If you are wrong, please give you a town gate. " Su Shi secretly admired Fo Yin's eyesight, and he responded generously. Fo Yin hence a sentence:

Four are free, but five are together. Where do you want to sit?

Su Shi sang for a long time, but he couldn't match, so he had to seal him. Fo Yin also took out his own cassock and presented it to Su Shi. Since then, this experience of "giving seals" has made this empty monk and literary leaders have forged a lifelong friendship and been passed down as a historical story.

Unconsciously, a few days later, Su Shi got up and left for fear of missing his trip. Fo Yin knew that he couldn't stay long, so he asked Su Shi to write a couplet for this temple. Su Shi didn't refuse, but just put pen to paper with a smile. Su Shi wrote:

Sit down, sit down, sit down,

Tea, tea, fragrant tea.

Fo Yin looked at Su Shi and both of them laughed.

Since then, Su Shi and Fo Yin have been in frequent contact, talking about poetry and writing, and the relationship is very close. Su Shi has repeatedly advised Fo Yin to be an official, but Fo Yin, who sees through the world of mortals, only wants to find spiritual sustenance in the ethereal spirit of Buddha, and has no intention of being an official. When Su Shi saw that his determination could not be changed, he gave up the idea of persuasion and admired Fo Yin even more.

One day, it was snowing, and Su Shi was alone in his study, eating fish and drinking wine. In order to weigh a word, he stopped chopsticks and looked at the snow scene outside the window. Suddenly, he found Fo Yin walking quietly through the snow. Su Shi thinks that there are leftovers and messy cups and plates, which is not a gift for entertaining friends. He quickly put the fish dish on the top of the bookshelf, hid the wine, and pretended to study the words wholeheartedly.

Who knew Fo Yin was quick-witted? When he saw Su Shi's look, he smelled the smell in the study, looked at the furnishings in the room and guessed Su Shi's secret, but he didn't reveal it directly, so he asked Su Shi how to write the word "Su". Without thinking, Su Shi casually said, "Under the grass, there are fish on the left and food on the right." (Traditional Su characters)

Fo Yin smiled and said, "Can you change the position of the grass head and the fish?" Su Shi still didn't notice what was in Fo Yin's words. He just shook his head and waved.

Fo Yin saw that Su Shi had fallen into his "small trap" and smiled and said to the fish dish on the top of Su Shi's bookshelf, "Come down from above!"

Su Shi suddenly realized Fo Yin's "trick". They clapped their hands and drank to their hearts' content with leftover fish and vegetables.
