Shek Kip Mei Longan Mother Garden is located in Daxin Town, Pingnan County, Guangxi. The second-class highways from Nanning to Wuzhou and Pingnan to Rongxian pass through the territory, 30 kilometers away from Pingnan County and 20 kilometers away from Zhangping South Station of Nanguang High-speed Railway. Covering an area of 120 mu, it was built in 1927.
The origin of Shijie longan
According to legend, in Xinhe Street, Daxin Town, Pingnan, there is a tall stone mountain with an longan tree under it. The quality of the fruit is so good that the locals call it "longevity fruit". In the 1920s, Tan Zhurao, the son of Tan Zhurao, a juren from Daxin Shangdong Village, studied at Waseda University in Japan. After graduation, he brought back some fine varieties of Huanglan and Yinren, bought nearly a thousand acres of land in Daxin and turned it into an orchard. One day, after hearing his mother mention the "longevity fruit" in Xinhe and Shishan, he went to see it. When I came to the Rocky Mountain, I took a closer look at the longan tree exposed from the cracks in the stone. Its trunk is as thick as a bowl, its crown is like an umbrella, its leaves are green and dense, and its branches are full of fruits. Pick some "longevity fruit" and try it. The fruit is big and thick, crystal clear, crisp and sweet, which is really the treasure of the fruit. Qin is a treasure. Later, he successfully grafted 108 longan saplings with longan trees on the Rocky Mountain by using the fruit tree grafting techniques he learned while studying in Japan. This longan tree of 108 is the female parent tree of Shijie longan, and now it is in the female parent garden, so it is named Shijie longan.
According to the research of experts at home and abroad, the foresight of early grafting technology and contiguous development in Shijie longan mother orchard is rare.
