Investigation mainly studies basic knowledge and skills such as public security, investigation and criminology. Including investigation activities and their laws, investigation system and theory, laws and characteristics of criminal activities, etc. And receive basic training in criminal law enforcement, investigation and solving cases, arrest and fighting, and conduct investigation, inspection and law enforcement in public security, procuratorial, customs, national security and other departments. For example: investigation and detection of criminal cases, inspection of smuggled goods and contraband, and investigation of drugs.

The employment prospect of this major is relatively good in the public security major, because the demand for this major is the largest in the country, and the adaptability of this major is relatively strong. To be competent for some non-professional public security work physical training, good physical fitness is the first condition to become a qualified investigator or policeman.

Career development:

During the 20 years of recovery and development, China's investigative science has made great progress through reconstruction, and its remarkable feature is that a large number of scientific research achievements are constantly emerging. From 65438 to 0979, the former Third Bureau of the Ministry of Public Security organized and compiled Criminal Investigation, which became the first professional book in China to systematically introduce the knowledge of investigation.

In the same year, the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Education jointly organized and compiled law textbooks for colleges and universities. As one of the teaching materials, Criminal Investigation was published in 1982, which became the first relatively complete teaching material of investigation in colleges and universities in China. Later, Criminal Investigation edited by the Law Department of Renmin University of China, Criminal Investigation edited by the Law Department of Peking University, Criminal Investigation edited by the Police Cadre School of the Ministry of Public Security, and Lecture Notes on Criminal Investigation edited by Southwest University of Political Science and Law came out one after another.

At the same time, a large number of research papers have been published in various journals, and dozens of translations and monographs of research have been published. In the 1990s, the research on investigation theory has achieved fruitful results. The quality and quantity of translations, monographs and papers have been greatly improved, and the types of investigative teaching materials are more complete.

In the general higher education system, in addition to different kinds of investigation textbooks for undergraduates, there are also textbooks for graduate students, junior college students and advanced students. In the vocational education system, in addition to the investigation textbooks of public security organs at all levels, procuratorial organs have also compiled special investigation textbooks.
