As one of the representative landforms in China, Danxia landform is famous for its unique topographical beauty and rich historical and cultural background.
Danxia landform was formed in the late Permian and experienced the process of destruction and transformation. It is formed under the interaction of crustal deformation and fracture, seawater deposition, erosion and volcanic activity. Most of this landform belongs to the subtropical monsoon climate zone, and most of it is distributed in Longxi area in northern China.
Danxia's unique scenic spots include peaks, canyons, rock walls, columnar stones, gullies, caves, stone forests and so on. It is characterized by towering peaks, numerous cliffs, vigorous modeling and simple lines. The ravines in Danxia area are deep, the erosive substances are loose and the weathering degree is high, which constitutes a unique rock stratum and a large area of mountain grassland.
Danxia landform has a large height difference and steep sides. In the past, ancient temples were often built with sloping eaves according to the mountain situation, with continuous courtyards and beautiful environment. The peak rocks in Danxia landform have different shapes, and most of them present various abstract images, such as monkeys, humps, peacocks, little boys and geckos, which are very pleasing to the eye.
The formation of Danxia landform is caused by many natural factors such as crustal deformation, erosion and volcanic activity. The rocks in Danxia landform are mainly sandstone and shale, showing special geomorphological features such as peaks, columns and walls.
