Management science is a comprehensive interdisciplinary subject to study the law of human management activities and its application, involving the combination of natural science and social science, qualitative method and quantitative method, and theory and practice. On the other hand, management engineering is the engineering embodiment of management science. It is a variety of activities and the whole process that managers try to use various resources to achieve the established goals in a changeable objective environment. The discipline system of management is divided into three categories: basic theory, technical method and practical application. The discipline structure of management science can be summarized as three foundations: system and information science, economic science and behavioral science.

Northeastern University has the right to award doctoral and master's degrees in management science and engineering, and has a postdoctoral mobile station. In 2002, this discipline ranked 15 in the national first-class discipline evaluation of management science and engineering, and it is a first-class key discipline in Liaoning Province.

Four, the degree thesis work and defense requirements

1. Literature reading: Before choosing a topic, you should read a lot of relevant literature at home and abroad, write a literature review report, comprehensively reflect the research status at home and abroad, and point out the problems to be solved.

2. Opening report: After completing the required credits, the opening report should be completed, and the topic of the paper should have theoretical significance or practical application value. The opening report is conducted at the end of the fourth semester or the beginning of the fifth semester according to the content and format stipulated by the school. It is organized by the grassroots academic organization where the graduate students are located, with at least 3 teachers participating. After the topic is passed, you can continue to complete your master's thesis.

3. Publishing papers: During the period of studying for a master's degree, graduate students are required in principle to write at least one academic paper and publish it (the graduate student is the first author or tutor is the first author and the graduate student is the second author), and the content of the published academic paper must be related to the master's degree thesis.

4. Dissertation: The research topics involved in the work of master's degree thesis are required to have scientific value in theory, practical value in practice and obvious innovation. The paper should have a literature review, reasonable structure, correct viewpoints, detailed information, complete content and correct translation of English abstracts, which meets the basic requirements and typesetting requirements of Northeastern University master's degree thesis.

5. Defense requirements: Before the formal defense, the master students must first confirm whether they have completed 30 credits, submitted literature review, opening report, written or published academic papers, and completed the dissertation writing; If you meet the above work and requirements at the same time, you can submit a formal application and fill in the relevant materials for applying for master's thesis defense according to the requirements of the graduate school of Northeastern University; The evaluation of the master's degree thesis, the establishment of the defense committee and the defense of the thesis will be carried out in strict accordance with the Detailed Rules for the Granting of Master's Degree in Northeastern University.
