Introduction to Qingdao University School Motto of Qingdao University
1. Qingdao University is a key comprehensive university in Shandong Province. Shandong Province and Qingdao City * * * built universities, and high-level universities in Shandong Province "rushed" to build universities, and built the national college students' cultural quality education base and China education base. It is the first batch of pilot universities for the comprehensive reform of undergraduate specialty in local universities under the "Undergraduate Teaching Project" of the Ministry of Education, the first batch of pilot universities for the reform of postgraduate training mode of medical master's degree, the pilot universities for the education and training plan of outstanding engineers and excellent doctors of the Ministry of Education, the demonstration universities for the reform of innovation and entrepreneurship education of the Ministry of Education, the demonstration universities for the reform of teacher assessment and evaluation of the Ministry of Education, and the demonstration base for studying in China.

2. The earliest source of the school was Qingdao College founded by 1909, and later became Qingdao Medical College. Another source is the private Qingdao University, which was founded in 1924, and then went through the running period of National Qingdao University and National Shandong University. After the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, National Shandong University merged with Qingdao Medical College to form a medical college, which later became Qingdao Medical College. 65438-0993, the former Qingdao University merged with Qingdao Medical College, Shandong Textile Vocational and Technical College and Qingdao Normal College to form the new Qingdao University.

3. School motto: Mingde, erudite, upright and surprising.

Interpretation: Mingde, from The Book of Rites University: The way of university, Mingde, close to the people, ends with perfection; The Doctrine of the Mean: erudite, interrogative, thoughtful, discerning and faithful; The purpose of the university is to carry forward the aboveboard moral character, shape a new life and reach the most perfect realm. Education-oriented, moral education first. Moral education is the fundamental task of higher education. Educating people must first be "Ming De", which is the most fundamental basis for shaping and achieving people.

Erudition comes from the golden mean: erudition, doubt, thinking, understanding and faith; Xunzi's exhortation to learn: a gentleman is knowledgeable and saves himself every day, so he knows what he knows and does nothing wrong; "The Analects of Confucius" Xia Zi said: erudite and determined, inquisitive and thoughtful, with benevolence in it. "erudition" means eclecticism, learning from the strengths of many families, so as to achieve profound knowledge.

Honesty, from Xiang Zhuan: a gentleman is independent and upright, and can't tolerate all waste. "Positive" means observing norms, laws and justice; Stick to the principle of being a man and refuse temptation; Adhere to honesty and trustworthiness and maintain credibility; Insist on being honest and doing things in a down-to-earth manner; Adhere to long-term planning and reject short-term behavior; Insist on waiting for the time to be ripe, undisturbed, and not acting rashly.

Surprisingly, it comes from Tao Te Ching: rule the country with righteousness, use troops with strangeness, and take the world with nothing; Sun Tzu's potential: whoever fights wins, the combination is right, and it is unexpected. Therefore, the good and the strange are infinite as heaven and earth, and inexhaustible as rivers. To be "surprising", we must emancipate our minds at the ideological level and forge ahead. At the methodological level, scientific planning and decision-making must be carried out. Scientific planning and scientific decision-making are the prelude to "surprise".
