Statistical analysis of data and SPSS
Course number: 20L04 1T
Course level and degree courses: general education, comprehensive foundation, natural science
Study hours: 32; academic performance: 2.
Abstract: There are a lot of data in scientific research and industrial experiments, and people hope to get scientific or expected conclusions through these data. For these vast data, different research methods will reflect different scientific aspects and draw different conclusions. To extract useful information from data, we must use statistical analysis skills to eliminate random interference and draw scientific conclusions based on statistical analysis evidence. The course "Statistical Analysis of Data and Application of SPSS" enables students to calculate these data according to the expected research purpose with the help of the world-wide statistical software SPSS, and find their expected scientific conclusions from a large number of experimental data. This course will improve students' ability of data analysis and application in industrial experiments, scientific research and thesis writing. Through the study of this course, students will learn: (1) the application of SPSS; (2) objectively and effectively analyze the data calculation results; (3) Explore the potential of data.
This course adopts the combination of open-book case analysis homework and usual computer homework, accounting for 70% of course homework and 30% of usual computer practice. This course focuses on the understanding and application of knowledge and the ability to solve practical problems, and tries to avoid rote learning.
The basic contents of this course are:
The main functions, characteristics and data establishment of SPSS (2 hours); Statistical analysis of basic data (4 hours); SPSS analysis of mean process and t test (4 hours); SPSS analysis of variance (3 hours); Regression and related SPSS analysis (5 hours); SPSS cluster analysis and discriminant analysis (3 hours); SPSS analysis of nonparametric statistics (4 hours); Factor and survival rate (5 hours); SPSS data analysis graphics (2 hours).
Applicable majors: all majors in the school.
