Training objectives: This major trains compound talents with relatively complete knowledge system of modern biological sciences, extensive knowledge of basic gardening theories and solid and skilled basic skills, who can engage in modern horticultural production, technology promotion, industrial development, management, teaching and scientific research in fruit trees, vegetables, ornamental gardening, garden greening and other related fields, and have wide adaptability and certain professional expertise.
Training requirements: Students in this major mainly study the basic theoretical knowledge of horticultural crop breeding, cultivation, biotechnology, post-harvest commercialization of horticultural crops, storage, transportation and marketing, pest control, etc., receive the basic skills training of horticultural crop production, management and new variety breeding, and master the basic abilities of new variety breeding, cultivation management, seed production and factory seedling raising, facility gardening and horticultural industry development planning.
Graduates should have the following knowledge and abilities:
1. Master the basic theory of horticulture, and have good foreign language communication and application skills in mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, computer and scientific writing.
2. Master the analysis methods, design methods and operation techniques in the planning and construction of horticultural fields (courtyards), germplasm protection, genetic improvement and improved seed breeding, cultivation management, pest control, commercialization and marketization of horticultural products;
