For freshmen, how to choose a club that suits them?
The school season is coming soon. Students who have just finished the college entrance examination will soon meet their own universities. Soon, the recruitment of new clubs will begin, and many students will be confused about how to choose a club that suits them. Today, I will share some suggestions with you based on my own experience.

1. Defining the classification of associations As we all know, there are many associations in universities. There are many kinds. Before making a choice, we need to have a simple understanding of the types of clubs. Specifically, there are the following types:

Public welfare/organization: such as youth volunteers association, environmental protection association, caring society, psychological society, relaxation class, etc.

Hobbies: mainly various hobbies. Including badminton association, basketball association, music association, photography association, skateboarding association, dance association and so on.

Academic categories: including English Association, Postgraduate Entrance Examination Association, Entrepreneurship Association, ACM Programming Association, etc.

Functional departments (student union): such as news department, propaganda department, information technology department, external relations department, organization department and so on.

Cultural and artistic societies: such as drama societies, literary societies, radio stations, etc.

Personally, before signing up, you need to have a preliminary understanding of each club, at least you need to know what kind of club it is, which is more convenient for your later interview and joining.

2. Identify your hobbies. Once you understand the above classification, you need to make a choice. However, before choosing a club, you must first make clear your hobbies. Community is a platform for self-expression and communication. Only by investing in sincerity and enthusiasm can we gain more. Think back to something you liked when you were a child, or a new interest you found in college. Choosing a club related to it will make you more motivated to participate.

3. Make a good choice. No more than three clubs in the freshman year can sign up for clubs. Unlimited quantity. However, senior sister suggested not to choose too many clubs. After all, every club will have many different activities, and it takes a lot of time to participate in the activities, and time is limited. Too many choices will affect your study, so you should give consideration to your studies and spare time. Senior sister chose two clubs, and there are two or three activities every week. In addition to class and club activities, other school activities, study and sports need to be taken into account. So I suggest you choose one or three clubs, not more than three.

4. Consider personal development needs. Everyone has different growth needs. Some people want to improve their leadership skills, some people like to practice teamwork skills, and some people want to enrich their hobbies. According to your personal needs, choose activities and projects that meet your development goals, so that you will be more motivated to participate. Different departments can learn different things. For example:

Choose photography, you can become a photographer after graduation, or you can team up with people to shoot short videos of vibrato every day.

Choosing a speech and debate club can improve your expression ability, which is very beneficial to future job interviews, cultivate your dialectical thinking, and even improve your professional quality (such as lawyers). )

Choose a host, improve your temperament, and you can engage in the work or task arrangement hosted by the host in the future.

Choose dance, piano, basketball, etc. And you can be a part-time teacher in the organization.

5. Understanding the atmosphere of the community and the atmosphere and culture of the cultural community is very important for your participation experience. Some clubs are active and lively, others are introverted and steady, and some even have a rigid atmosphere, which makes it impossible for everyone to integrate well. Therefore, before choosing, you can attend the regular meetings and activities of the club or learn about the club from the old members, and know the atmosphere and culture of the club in advance before deciding whether to sign up. I once asked my class to help me do a lot of things about the last club culture, and finally made a decision after comprehensive reference. If you want to have a good time in the club, the reference information of the club atmosphere and culture is very important.

6. Pay attention to the history and reputation of a community. The history and reputation of a community can reflect its organizational strength and influence. Choosing a club with a certain history and good reputation can improve your social circle and get more opportunities. Generally speaking, the greater the influence of a community, the more people can contact and learn, but at the same time, they will bear more responsibilities. However, don't blindly pursue popularity and ignore your own interests. Maybe some emerging societies will bring you more room for innovation and development.

7. Try multiple clubs. If you are hesitant about choosing a club, you can sign up for various clubs and participate in club interviews. In this process, you can also improve your expression ability and exercise your communication ability. It is a very good opportunity for college students. When I was in college, I didn't know what kind of club I wanted to go to, so I applied for five or six club interviews. Generally speaking, club interviews are relatively simple, mainly focusing on your interest direction and your willingness to join the club, so I finally passed. However, considering the precious time, only two societies were chosen to join, namely the Photography Association and the Propaganda Department. So, if you are still confused, just try again, and then choose whether to go or not after you get the offer.

8. Recommend clubs According to their own experience, senior students recommend some popular clubs here for your reference:

College students' innovation and entrepreneurship association. It can greatly improve your ability to organize and plan large-scale competitions. You can participate in the internet plus/Sanchuang Cup/Challenge Cup competition. It can also cultivate your business thinking, which is very conducive to finding a job in the future.

New media association. You can understand the operation of new media and learn the technical skills of new media. And you can set up your own self-media account, enrich your resume and increase your employment competitiveness.

Young volunteers association. You can add comprehensive test scores (linked to scholarships), broaden your contacts, and get in touch with counselors and teachers. It is conducive to the cultivation of relationships and there are many opportunities.

English club. English is equally important in college. Joining an English club is conducive to long-term continuous contact with English. It is not only beneficial to the college English test, CET-4 and CET-6, but also to your future direction planning (you can take the English test to go abroad, be an English tutor, enter a foreign-funded enterprise) and so on.

Student work societies. This is mainly the various departments of the student union, such as the organization department, the propaganda department, the news department and so on. In these departments, you will be exposed to the work of the college, cultivate your working ability and organizational planning ability in advance, and accumulate work experience, which will be of great help to job interviews in the future.

From my personal experience, I once chose to join the Propaganda Department and the Photography Association. In the photography association, I mainly study photography knowledge and practice how to shoot. The activities of this club are relatively relaxed, so you can participate in the activities freely according to your own situation. Compared with the photography association, the propaganda department tests and exercises my personal ability. In this process, I need to contact people from different departments (to expand contacts and cultivate communication skills), design the production scheme of promotional materials for college activities (to cultivate the ability of event planning), and manage the official WeChat account of the college (to design the typesetting and theme of tweets according to my own aesthetics), which has well cultivated my typesetting and design ability. Generally speaking, I have gained a lot, not only the friendship of the department, but also my ability and my photography hobby.

? Finally, I hope that when you choose a club that suits you, you can stick to your initial intentions, work hard and show your light on the stage of the club. Community life is not only an important part of enriching campus experience, but also an opportunity for growth and exercise. I hope everyone can find their own stage and sense of belonging in it. Come on!
