Until today, it is often talked about by people. It can be seen that this statement is a truth, which has been proved to be true and reliable after nearly three thousand years of inspection.

This applies to people who do all kinds of jobs, but why not learn? But how to explain it?

According to my own thinking and analysis, there is only one kind of complacency: truth. False complacency is nothing. Bragging, bragging, that's not complacency, but deception. There are two kinds of modesty, one is true and the other is false. Examples of false modesty can be said to be everywhere. Many people pretend to be modest. China people's words such as "Philippine discretion" and "my humble work" come out with their mouths open. Everyone knows that the modest words of "correcting mistakes", "correcting mistakes" and "correcting mistakes" are false, but everyone must write like this. This modesty has penetrated into the bone marrow and left no impression on anyone. Japanese gifts, calling themselves "rough products", also belong to this category. This hypocritical modesty is not good for anyone. Westerners can't understand why they should treat guests with "Philippine Action" instead of a feast. Why take "rough products" instead of giving them to others? This is a mystery to westerners.

What we want is real modesty, especially in study. If a scholar, whether young, middle-aged or old, feels that his knowledge is large enough, there is no need to study any more, and there will be no progress. In fact, no matter which subject you study, you will never leave any problems at all. Even if people can live 1000 years, it is impossible. Therefore, learning with an open mind not only shows that this person has morality, but also shows that this person is seeking truth from facts. I heard Kang Youwei say that by the time he was thirty, he had learned everything about the world. This alone can prove that Kang Youwei doesn't know what learning is. Now someone respects him as a "master of Chinese studies", which I find ridiculous. He is an innovator at best.

In today's academic circles in China, people who think highly of themselves abound; And those who are truly open-minded are unique. I don't think this is a good phenomenon. Many young scholars have written several papers and published several monographs, all of which are very arrogant. This is not conducive to their progress and the academic future development of China.

What about myself? I always feel that I can't. I always say that I know everything, and I am very loose. I have been diligent all my life, reading books and writing articles every day, but when I meet a problem that needs in-depth study or more, I feel that I don't have enough knowledge, and sometimes I have to cram for the last minute. People all admit that self-knowledge is extremely difficult; Sometimes, I feel that I have too much "self-knowledge", not modesty, but guilt. Therefore, I have never felt complacent. This can certainly be said to be a good phenomenon. However, I met a big contradiction: I think few people can really do it. I always feel that many scholars are not diligent enough to waste their time every day. I am often in this kind of psychological contradiction. Thank you very much for your praise; However, I was not carried away by these compliments. My mind is clear. I only advise you not to believe those flattering words, especially those hats that are surprisingly high. I feel more guilty.
