A discipline in social science. It takes human social life and its development as the research object. It observes, analyzes and studies social phenomena, social life, social relations and various social problems with a scientific attitude and various methods of actual social investigation, thus revealing the processes and laws of various social forms, social structures and social development in various historical stages of mankind, accumulating scientific knowledge for people to understand society and arrange social life, and providing reference materials and scientific basis for relevant social departments to correctly handle social problems. Generally speaking, sociology is a comprehensive social science that studies the law of social operation and coordinated development. The name "sociology" was first put forward and founded by Comte, a French positivist in the19th century. Later, the theory of this subject was further systematized by British scholar Spencer. Since then, sociology has developed all over the world, especially in the west. After the birth of the historical materialism founded by Marx, it provided correct fundamental viewpoints, principles and methods for the study of human social life and social development, and also provided a real scientific basis for sociological research. The emergence of historical materialism has not and cannot replace sociology, a developing discipline. Many disciplines that study social problems in a certain field, such as economics and political science, have become specialized independent disciplines. In addition, the study of social phenomena such as population, labor, nationality and religion is gradually developing into an independent discipline, which will eventually be separated from sociology. But this will not affect the existence and development of sociology, because there will always be many gaps between these professional disciplines and many new social problems will always appear in the development of social life. All aspects of social life are closely related, so it is necessary to make a comprehensive study. This is the biggest feature of sociological research, so sociology has a broad field of development. Social organization, social structure, social function and social change are important contents of sociological research. The basic theory of sociology and many specialized social fields can also constitute marginal research disciplines of sociology, such as political sociology, economic sociology, religious sociology, educational sociology and social psychology. Sociology, as an independent discipline, has a history of 100 years. Its theoretical system and research field are not fixed. It will develop with the development of society and constantly improve itself, thus better serving people to correctly understand, understand and transform society.
