How to distinguish forgings, plates and pipes
Forgings, plates and pipes:

1, forgings, plates and pipes are not a category concept, in which plates and pipes refer to the materials used in flat rectangular building materials with standard dimensions.

Forgings refer to forged workpieces. Generally, plates are rolled, and pipes include heat pipes, cold-rolled pipes, cold-drawn pipes, extruded pipes and pipe jacking.

2. Forgings are made of metal, while plates and pipes are not only made of metal, but also include wood, metal and polymer. There are two kinds of pipes: metal pipes and polymer pipes.

3. The plate is flat and rectangular, and the tube is tubular; Metal plates and pipes are divided into forgings and non-forgings, which are not easy to distinguish from each other in appearance. You must look at the labels to distinguish them.

Tubes made of forgings are generally thick and welded.

4. Forging is an object that presses metal into required shape or appropriate compressive force through plastic deformation.

This force is usually achieved by using a hammer or pressure.

The fine grain structure is established in the forging process, which improves the physical properties of metals.

5. Sheet refers to a flat rectangular building material sheet with standard size, which is used as a component of walls, ceilings or floors.

It also refers to forged, rolled or cast metal plates.

It is divided into thin plate, medium plate, thick plate, extra-thick plate and flat rectangular building materials plate which is usually made into standard size.

6. Pipes are materials used to make pipe fittings.

Different pipe fittings need different pipes, and the quality of pipes directly determines the quality of pipes.

7. When using metal plates and pipes, forgings are preferred if the cost is not considered.

Forgings have good isotropy, that is, no matter which direction the force is applied, the force is balanced.

However, plates are generally rolled, and the stress in the rolling direction is better than that in forgings.

However, the sheet is easy to delaminate, and the thickness is too large to meet the quality requirements, so forgings should be used.
