Shimashi

Shima Village, Hongshui Township, is located at15km southwest of Xiyang County, about10km away from Dazhai Village, with an area of 700 square meters. It is a Buddhist temple combining cliff stone carvings with temple architecture, and was listed as a provincial key cultural relics protection unit on 1986. It was founded in 534 (the third year of Yongxi in the Northern Wei Dynasty), and was originally named Shifosi. Later, it was renamed Shima Temple because there were a pair of stone horses in front of the temple. There are some ancient buildings built in the Yuan Dynasty, such as the Giant Buddha Hall, Guanyin Pavilion and Descendants Hall, Galand Hall, Bell and Drum Tower, Mountain Pavilion and South Cave Gallery, but most of them have collapsed seriously, and monks are carrying out maintenance with the support of the state. The temple is surrounded by mountains and clear springs. The temple sits east to west, with 65,438 stone archways across the Shima River at the west end with a grade of 1. 1745 (the 10th year of Qing Qianlong) There were 1 stone bridges built on Shima River. The stone carvings are carved around a boulder with a height of17m, a length of16m from east to west and a width of15m from north to south, with a height of over 30m nearby.

On the cliff. There are more than 1300 stone statues, the largest of which is 5 meters high and the smallest is only 5 centimeters high, of which 66 are over 1 meter high. Among them, about 70% of the statues were made during the Wei Qi period. The statues of Buddha, Bodhisattva, Lux, threatened servants and supporters were all polished, with gaunt faces, wide tops and narrow shoulder blades. Tommy, Guanyin and Sixteen Statues in Sui and Tang Dynasties were full in shape, moderate in proportion, free in posture, beautifully carved and smooth in lines.
