Institute of Tobacco, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, established in 1958, is a national agricultural professional research institution approved by the State Council Science Planning Commission and established by the Ministry of Agriculture. 1959, Shandong Tobacco Research Institute was established with the approval of Shandong Provincial People's Committee.

1987 approved by the State Science and Technology Commission and the Ministry of Labor and Personnel, it was renamed Qingzhou Tobacco Research Institute of China National Tobacco Corporation, with the leadership system of China Academy of Agricultural Sciences as the main body, and it is the only national tobacco agricultural research institution in China.

The Institute of Tobacco of Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences has established a multi-level and multi-directional higher education system for postdoctoral students, doctors, masters, international students, Sino-foreign cooperative education, domestic joint training and undergraduate joint education, and has trained a large number of outstanding high-level talents for the country.
