Research and Application of Zingiberaceae Flowers in China

Abstract: zingiberaceae, flowers, research, application

The introduction and utilization of wild flowers is a quick and effective way to develop new varieties of flowers. Through the introduction test, multi-point production test and market adaptability study of 20 wild flower materials imported from home and abroad, five wild flower varieties with feasible production and strong market competitiveness were screened out, such as Fengshou Yinhua, Fengshou Honghua, Qiu Hong Ginger, Sheathed Ginger (also known as Baishoulao) and Baota Flower, and their seedling breeding technology and cultivation management technology were studied and mastered, which had good production and application prospects.

Zingiberaceae plants are mostly distributed in tropical and subtropical areas of Southeast Asia, and Yunnan Province is the distribution center of China. In nature, zingiberaceae plants are mostly produced in shade forests and gaps, and the species of fleshy roots are slightly cold-resistant, and the original zingiberaceae plants are rare in arid areas.

The rich species resources and genetic diversity of zingiberaceae make it more and more important in landscape application. In addition to the ornamental plant shape and leaf shape, some kinds of inflorescences have strange structures and are extremely gorgeous, such as ginger. Other species have huge and bright bracts, which are particularly conspicuous, such as ginger. In a specific season and small environment, zingiberaceae flowers have irreplaceable collocation and ornamental value in gardens, which can be used as garden flowers, ground cover plants, flower beds and flower border materials, potted plants and combined potted plants according to local conditions. The following are the ginger flowers that I think have a good prospect in the garden. Ginger (Zingiber officinale) is a plant of the genus Zingiber, which is produced in forest margins or streams in mountainous areas of South and Southwest China. The plant height is about 1.5m, with compact plant type, erect stems and lanceolate leaves. Spikes are extracted from the rhizome, erect and sharp, about 0.5 meters long, covered by bracts arranged in shingles, oval in meat, with small white flowers, and flowering from June to August.

Bracts changed from dark red to fiery red in the flowering and fruiting period of nearly half a year. A cluster of plants can draw dozens of inflorescences a year, which has unique ornamental value and is very suitable for garden characteristics.
