When writing a paper, how to ensure that the text has page numbers and the table of contents does not?
1. Move the mouse to the last position on the first page, then click Insert-Delimiter-section break type to select "Next Page", and click OK to move the mouse to the second page;

2. Click Insert-Page Number-Page Number Displayed on Home Page-Format-Select I, ii, iii, … Select the starting page number as I, and click OK. At this time, we can see from the second page that the page numbers are I, II, III … but the page numbers are also inserted in the first page. Double-click where the page number is inserted on the second page, and the toolbar in the header and footer will pop up. Click the "Same as before" button (some versions are "Connect to previous version") and then close.

3. At this time, you can go back to the first page and double-click to delete the page number. At this point, the page number of the first page disappears.

4. Move the mouse to the last position on the third page, then click Insert-Delimiter-section break Type to select "Next Page", and click OK to move the mouse to the fourth page;

5. Click Insert-Page Number-Format-Select 1.2.3, … Select the starting page number as 1, and click OK (see clearly that it is different from 1, and the page number is not displayed on the home page). At this time, we see that there is no page number on the fourth page, while the page number on the fifth page starts with 2.

6. Move the mouse to the last position on the fourth page, then click Insert-Delimiter-section break Type to select "Next Page", and click OK to move the mouse to the fifth page;

7. Click Insert-Page Number-Page Number Displayed on Home Page-Format-Select 1.2.3, … Select the starting page number as 1, and click OK. There is still no page number on the fourth page, but from the fifth page it is 1.2.3…

Everything is fine!
