Yan Song, whose real name is Mianan, is from Jiangxi. Yan Song was a famous courtier in Jiajing period of Ming Dynasty. Because he was in charge of the state affairs for 20 years, he committed crimes such as eradicating dissidents, abusing power for personal gain, corrupting officials and corrupting state affairs, and was generally regarded as a traitor by later generations. Besides, Yan Song is also very accomplished in calligraphy, poetry and other fields.
Portrait of Yan Song
At the age of 25, Yan Song was already a scholar in high school. Unfortunately, he was very ill, so he retired and went home for ten years. After more than ten years, Yan Song has been working in imperial academy. Since then, Xia Yan, the minister of rites, has won the favor of Emperor Shizong of Jiajing by wooing fellow villagers, and was promoted to the minister of rites on 1532. He took office in Beijing four years later and became a bachelor of cabinet within a few years.
Sejong was obsessed with Taoism, Xia Yan often opposed Taoism, and Yan Song always courted the emperor. Therefore, in the eyes of Sejong, Yan Song began to be more important than Xia Yan, and he liked him more. When Yan Song's wings grew, he began to attack and persecute Xia Yan. After several years of hard work, Xia Yan was first dismissed from office and then beheaded, and Yan Song became the cabinet record.
Later, although some ministers were dissatisfied with Yan Song's authoritarian power, they came forward to list his crimes and hoped that Sejong would put him to death. Unfortunately, all these dissidents were eradicated by Yan Song, so Yan Song didn't have any ministers who could be hostile to him in South Korea at that time. So Yan Song dictatorship for 20 years, do whatever you want. And his son Yan Shifan, also through the light of Lao zi, without the imperial examination, father and son * * * in power.
Eventually, Sejong gradually became disgusted with Yan Song and his son. It happened that a Taoist around Sejong said that Yan Song was a traitor to Fusang. So Yan Song was dismissed from office, his son was beheaded, and he died after wandering for two years.
Treacherous court official Yan Song?
Judging whether a person is loyal or treacherous is generally analyzed from his merits. Add them together, merit is greater than the past, good is greater than evil, which is loyalty, and vice versa. Judging from Yan Song's life, he is a traitor because he is bad in both aspects.
Yan Song in TV series
Yan Song was an official for about 40 years, including 20 years as a senior official, and even served as a cabinet record, which was equivalent to a prime minister. Coupled with the great trust of Emperor Jiajing, Yan Song could have made great achievements and made a career to change the chaos of state affairs and the corruption of officialdom at that time. But according to the known historical data, he didn't make any achievements. Instead of discouraging the emperor from participating in government affairs, he encouraged him to indulge in Taoism. Yan Song has done many things that endanger the country in his life. For example, Yan Song framed many loyal ministers, such as Xia Yan who promoted him and Yang Jisheng who impeached him. For example, selling officials and titles, madly collecting money; For example, conniving at sons and subordinates to do evil and so on.
As far as Yan Song's personal character is concerned, there is some controversy in later generations. After all, human nature is complicated. Judging from the evil deeds listed above, Yan Song's moral character should be described as corruption. But Yan Song also has many bright spots: for example, he is diligent and studious, and he has been working hard all his life; For example, there is only one wife in life, no concubine, and she has always been loyal to her; For example, I am passionate about my hometown and have built many bridges and roads for my hometown.
Whether Yan Song's character is good or bad, at least it can't be called good. But he can only be called a traitor, because he has no political achievements but is evil. On the contrary, although Zhang was autocratic and corrupt and had a bad personality, he made great contributions to political reform and was a loyal minister on the whole.
The fate of Yan Song.
Yan Song's fate is not good. He was a famous traitor in the Ming Dynasty. After his wife died, Yan Song returned to his hometown.
At this time, Yan Song also clashed with the second assistant. Knowing that the emperor was dissatisfied with Yan Song, Fu paid bribes to Taoist priests who were closely related to the emperor. The Taoist priest told the emperor that a father and son were making waves in the imperial court, waiting for the rise and fall of the emperor. The emperor's heart moved. Soon, the emperor's bedroom caught fire, and Yan Song suggested that he go to the Nangong. Nangong is the place where Yingzong was imprisoned. The emperor felt unlucky and became increasingly dissatisfied with Yan Song. The second time, the suggestion of building a more gorgeous sleeping hall won the favor of the emperor.
Other courtiers in the imperial court also discovered the emperor's attitude towards Yan Song and impeached them one after another. Under the covert operation of Er Fu, Yan Song was deprived of all his official positions. Yan Song's son is a very greedy man. He often uses his power to oppress the people. Because of this, he was also impeached by the suggestion. Yan Shifan was a sergeant guarding Leizhou, but later he fled back to his hometown. Yan Shifan's behavior was reported, and the emperor was very angry. Finally, he was sentenced to beheading. Yan Song was implicated by his son, and he became an ordinary citizen. Yan Song's property was also confiscated. The emperor put half of the confiscated money into the state treasury, and the other half was used for military pay.
Finally, the old people in Yan Song have to live a hard life in thatched cottages, and often there is not enough food. Two years later, Yan Song died alone. Yan Song died without a coffin or an undertaker. Yan Song's fate is not tragic.
Descendants of Yan Song
Although Yan Song lived a long life, he only had one wife without concubines, so there were not many children in his life, only his son Yan Shifan and two daughters. According to records, Yan Song has only six grandchildren and one granddaughter, plus two adopted sons. Coupled with the fall of Yan Song and Yan Shifan's beheading, how his descendants became a mystery.
Hometown of Yan Song
Yan Song's family, his wife died before his downfall, and his son Yan Shifan was later impeached and imprisoned. He was beheaded a year later and died two years later. As for Yan Song's other family members, there are few official records, but there is no record of Yan Song's beheading in the history books, so there is a good chance of survival.
It is said that when Yan Shifan was beheaded after the fall of Yan Song, his 27 family members were ordered to guard the border, saying that they had made contributions. During the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty, Zhang began to dictatorship, and Yan Song's political enemy Xu Jie and others had already died in battle, so the descendants of Yan Song began to return to officialdom. For example, Yan Song's second grandson, Yan Shaoting, is said to have recovered because of his exploits in suppressing the Japanese invaders. His son Yan Yun later became a high school soldier. He also made meritorious military service for the imperial court. He did not become an official in the Qing Dynasty after the demise of the Ming Dynasty. He is a famous descendant of Yan Song.
