What kind of experience is it to learn biotechnology?
I am a senior in Beijing Normal University, and I want to talk about this problem. Because there is not much difference between biological science and biotechnology in our school, they all go to the same place after graduation, so we generalize.

First of all, every subject is the same, and the foundation is not firm. Not only the basic knowledge of this subject, but also a little knowledge of mathematics, physical chemistry (otherwise, precision instruments such as microscopes are easy to break down, and how to remove the background by cross-linking reaction). Because there are many branches of biological subdivision, you need to know more about the specific branches you are interested in on the basis of general knowledge. But unlike high school, a lot of knowledge comes from literature (so English is passable), which requires your usual accumulation.

Second, biology is an experimental subject. After you have completed the basic knowledge accumulation from freshman to junior and the preliminary experience in the laboratory, the seniors will do scientific research seriously. After that, the life of graduate students and doctoral students is basically to soak in the laboratory to do experiments (dry or wet). Once in the lab, be serious. Every mistake will waste a lot of time, and of course it will bring you valuable lessons. I belong to the kind with a disabled hand. Ask more questions and don't lose face, or you will suffer.

Third, there may be all kinds of incredible bugs in biological experiments. Because biotechnology involves a wide range of disciplines, people who study this major generally only know biotechnology, and others don't know much about it, so they don't know what the problem is with a certain reagent. . . Ask more questions and ask professionals. In addition, there will be mistakes you want to make, abnormal make-up tests in the review process and so on. To sum up, the mentality should be correct, and every subject is like this, but there are many biological uncertainties. After all, biology is young and many fields are unknown. Solving problems requires constant exploration.

Students don't always work in the process of technical skills, and the laboratory regularly organizes outings. Better universities and research institutes are well paid. Welcome to join the big family of biotechnology!
