2. Combination of extensive reading and intensive reading.

As an abstract of a document, if you find that the main content of the document has nothing to do with your research direction after reading the abstract, you can stop reading. This kind of literature reading is called "skimming", and after reading the abstract, the literature reading combined with references and preface is called "reading through".

Reading the full text carefully and combining with your own research ideas is called "intensive reading". By reading a document carefully, you can solve your worries at the beginning of reading the document, and you can also look at other related documents and books according to your own experience, so as to deepen your understanding of relevant knowledge and expand your knowledge. This method of reading literature is called intensive reading.

When reading literature, we need to combine these reading methods skillfully. Generally speaking, "skimming" and "reading through" are classified as skimming because they only need to spend a little energy, accounting for 70% of the total literature reading; Intensive reading and intensive reading are time-consuming and labor-intensive, accounting for 20% and 10% of the total literature reading, respectively.

3. Keep taking notes and reading repeatedly.

When reading literary works, you need to sort out what you read. Summarize a set of notes that suit you. Important conclusions, classic sentences and innovative experimental schemes need to be recorded for future reference, quotation and study. After reading the literature, you need to review it from time to time, so that when you encounter similar literature in the future, you can read it in comparison, consolidate and expand your knowledge.

4. Look at the combination of electronic documents and paper documents

Skimming and sketching documents can be read directly in electronic version, but "intensive reading", especially "intensive reading" documents are recommended to be read in paper. You can find the original journals or papers, or download and print in PDF format through the authority of the school. The biggest advantage of the paper version is that you can take notes with you, and it is convenient for future reference and review after sorting, which is a very good habit for researchers.
