1in the spring of 929, he transferred to the University of G? ttingen, Germany, which was one of the world's mathematical centers at that time, and studied abstract algebra with Nott, a famous female mathematician and founder of abstract algebra (also known as modern algebra). 1933, Nott was forced to immigrate to the United States because the Nazis expelled Jews. Before he left, he told Ceng Jiong that he must finish his studies. Ceng Jiong is a very important student of Nott. 1933, he published an important paper "On Divisible Algebra over Function Fields", and wrote in the caption: "The author would like to express his sincere thanks to his tutor Nott. Encouraged by her, the author of this article began to do the work. In the process of writing, her tireless teaching and help enabled the author to finally complete this article. " 1934, Ceng Jiong received his doctorate. His doctoral thesis is entitled "Algebra on Function Fields", and his tutor is Schmidt. 1934 in the second half of the year, he was granted research support from China Cultural and Educational Foundation and went to Hamburg University for further study. The famous mathematician Anting gave him a lot of encouragement. Because of his excellent work, the University of G? ttingen once retained him to work in the university, but Ceng Jiong returned to the motherland in July 1935 with a heart of serving the country. On the recommendation of Professor Chen, he was hired as an associate professor by the Department of Mathematics of Zhejiang University, teaching algebra including abstract algebra.
1936 published a paper on the closed level of quasi-algebra in the first volume of Journal of chinese mathematical society (according to the caption of this paper, this paper was completed during his further study in Hamburg). 1937 applied to be a professor at Beiyang University after the summer vacation and married Qin in the same year. Due to the outbreak of War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, Beiyang University, Beiping University and Beiping Normal University moved to Xi 'an to form Northwest United University. After the three schools became independent, Beiyang University moved to Chenggu (southwest of Shaanxi Province), renamed Northwest Institute of Technology, and Ceng Jiong moved with the school.
From 65438 to 0939, he was invited by Li Shutian, the former president of Beiyang University and a famous water conservancy expert, to join the newly established national Xikang (old provincial name, including western Sichuan and eastern Tibet) Technical College. The school is located in the suburb of Xichang City, Xikang Province, and the teaching and living conditions are very difficult. After years of traveling and poor medical conditions, Ceng Jiong's stomach problems have worsened. He died of bleeding due to gastric perforation in 1940+065438+ 10 at the age of 43.
