American universities usually write many, many papers in class, including sometimes handing in a paper at the end of the term, and the professor's final grade is limited by time. I don't think I will correct so many papers at once (...) I'm just guessing.

Generally speaking, although we don't have to write a graduation thesis, we have many other restrictions.
