Therefore, white garbage cannot be paid attention to again and again. What is white pollution? We should start with plastic. Plastic is a polymer material. Ethylene, propylene, vinyl chloride, styrene, etc. It can be made of petroleum, and the molecules of these substances can react with each other under certain conditions to produce compounds with high molecular weight (i.e. polymers): polyethylene, polypropylene, polyvinyl chloride and polystyrene. The plastics we usually use are materials composed of the above four polymers (polyethylene and polypropylene films are fragile when shaking, while PVC films are soft and have no brittle sound when shaking; Foam plastic is generally polystyrene, which has smoke when burning). Since the 1960s, plastics have entered a stage of wide application. Because plastic has many advantages: easy to obtain materials, low price, convenient processing and light texture, it was welcomed by the world as soon as it came out and quickly penetrated into all aspects of social life. Plastic is made into bowls, cups, bags, cans, barrels, pipes and so on. Plastic is listed as one of the greatest inventions in the 20th century, and its popularity is called the White Revolution. With the continuous increase of plastic production and the continuous reduction of cost, a large number of agricultural films, plastic bags for packaging and disposable plastic tableware we use are abandoned in the environment after use, which has brought great damage to the landscape and environment. Because most plastic packages are white, the environmental pollution they cause is called white pollution. According to careful investigation and study, cigarette butts and woolen goods can be preserved for 2 years; The painted board can last for 13 years; Nylon fabric can be used for 30-40 years; Leather can be used for 50 years; Can can be used for 80- 100 years; Plastics can last 100-200 years; Glass can last 65,438+0,000 years ... garbage destroys nature so savagely, how can we humans stand by and watch? We should implement "green action" to save the earth! How is the serious environmental problem of "white pollution" caused? What are the main pollutants of "white pollution"? Investigate this problem. In fact, white pollution is disposable plastic packaging, which is difficult to degrade. For example, disposable foamed tableware and plastic bags are commonly used. It seriously pollutes the environment, and it is difficult to decompose when buried in soil, which will lead to the decrease of soil capacity and air pollution if burned. Now, with the development of society, there is a great demand for many plastic products. China is one of the top ten countries producing and consuming plastic products in the world. It is reported that in 1995, China's plastic output was 5190,000 tons, and Japanese imported nearly 6 million tons of plastics. In that year, the total consumption of plastics in China was about11million tons, including 211million tons of packaging plastics. There are many hazards caused by white pollution, such as "visual pollution" and "potential hazards". Visual pollution refers to the waste plastic packaging scattered in cities, tourist areas, water bodies and roads, which brings bad stimulation to people's vision, affects the overall aesthetic feeling of cities and scenic spots, destroys the cityscape, thus causing "visual pollution", occupying too much land and polluting the air. Deep in the alley, you can often see large pieces of garbage. There are piles of them, and some flies are flying around. The scene is disgusting, which not only affects the city appearance, but also affects the health of citizens. White garbage will give off an unpleasant smell in the process of decomposition, which will be emitted into the air and soon spread to all corners with the flow of gas. People will get sick if they smell too much.

"Potential harm" refers to the long-term and deep-seated ecological and environmental problems caused by the difficulty of degradation of waste plastic packaging after it enters the environment. Firstly, the mixing of waste plastic packaging materials in soil affects the absorption of nutrients and water by crops. Everyone knows that crops can only be sown by soil, but ordinary soil can't. The best crops can only be planted in fertile soil. However, if plastic bags and plastic sheets are buried in the fields at home, the roots of crops will not grow well, resulting in reduced crop production; Second, waste plastic packaging on land or in water is swallowed by animals as food, which leads to animal death (such cases are common in zoos, pastoral areas and oceans); Thirdly, it is difficult to package and treat the waste plastics mixed with domestic garbage: landfill will occupy a lot of land for a long time, domestic garbage mixed with plastic is not suitable for composting, and it is difficult to recycle the classified waste plastics because it cannot guarantee the quality. What are the ways to deal with "white pollution" in China? First, strengthen management. For example, the problem of "white pollution" on both sides of the railway, which is concerned by the society, has been obviously improved by strengthening management. Starting from the second half of 1994, the railway department has segmented the sections along the line. Some passenger trains use bagged garbage, and passengers are forbidden to throw garbage out of the window. Unlike before, the flight attendants directly swept the garbage out of the window, but unloaded the garbage bags at the station for centralized treatment. Nowadays, there are more and more trains using bagged garbage, and the phenomenon of throwing garbage outside the train at will is less and less. "White pollution" has been basically eliminated on both sides of the 29,000-kilometer line. Practice has proved that strengthening management is an effective means to prevent and control "white pollution". Second, it is forbidden to use disposable plastic packaging materials that are difficult to degrade. Third, compulsory recycling. Clean waste plastic packaging can be reused, or used for granulation, oil refining, paint making, building materials and so on. Recycling conforms to the general principle of "reduction, recycling and harmlessness" in solid waste treatment. Recycling can not only avoid "visual pollution", but also solve "potential harm", relieve the pressure on resources, reduce the load of urban solid waste treatment, save land and achieve certain economic benefits. Recycling of waste plastics is the fundamental way to solve white pollution. In fact, compared with other materials, plastics have a significant advantage: they can be easily recycled. Plastics can be recycled, sorted, cleaned, and then heated and melted to make products again. In terms of composition, polyethylene, polypropylene and polystyrene are all composed of hydrocarbon elements, while fuels such as gasoline and diesel oil are also composed of hydrocarbon elements, but their molecular weights are small. Therefore, in the absence of air, these kinds of plastics can be heated to high temperature, cracked and fractionated to obtain gasoline and diesel oil. This is a good way to treat both the symptoms and the root causes. The fourth is to develop degradable plastics.

Degradable plastics have the same use function as ordinary plastics, but after being discarded after completing the use function, its chemical structure can change under certain conditions, so that the polymer can be decomposed into molecules with smaller molecular weight and finally assimilated by the natural environment. There are three kinds of degradable plastics: photodegradable plastics, biodegradable plastics and biodegradable plastics.
