Chapter three, metaphor and metonymy are a basic cognitive model of human beings, and people's understanding of things, the formation of concepts of things and the development of language have played an important role. When people use existing words to name new things and phenomena, the scope of meaning is also expanding, and this expansion is not arbitrary, but based on people's cognitive model of metaphor or metonymy.

Chapter five, in the process of using cognitive linguistics to study new words, there are many outstanding problems worthy of further study and solution, such as the influence of different cognitive styles on the creativity of new words, the influence of cognitive context on the understanding of new words and how to further strengthen the standardization of new words by using cognitive principles.
This paper attempts to reveal the cognitive law of the emergence and development of new words comprehensively and systematically, and tries to analyze and study the mechanism of the emergence and development of new words from a fresh perspective in order to provide some reference for the study of new words.
