Liu Tianquan's Personality Achievement
Liu Tianquan is a leader in coal science research, rock mechanics and engineering, and one of the founders of modern special mining technology science in China. He created many firsts in academic theory and engineering technology in his life. He initiated and developed the theory of China's large-scale mining influence and special mining technology, and was the pioneer and founder of this new interdisciplinary subject involving mining, mine survey, hydrogeology, engineering geology, rock mechanics, architecture and environmental protection.

Liu Tianquan's most outstanding academic achievement is a theoretical system for understanding, predicting, preventing and controlling the deformation and failure of mining rock mass and surface, and a technical system for special mining in mines, which is of milestone significance in the history of mining scientific research. He pioneered the introduction of modern mechanical theories and methods into the fields of mining and special mining, and put forward new concepts and theories of mining response and mechanical concepts of large displacement and great damage caused by large-scale mining, which enjoyed high prestige and extensive influence in academic circles at home and abroad. He has been invited to give academic lectures in newkirk University, Hamburg University, Aachen University of Technology and other universities. Liu Tianquan's theoretical research results are widely cited by related industries at home and abroad.

In the long-term scientific research practice, Liu Tianquan presided over the completion of more than 100 scientific research projects and engineering projects, of which 12 was the first at home and abroad. He presided over and succeeded in the first batch of coal mining faces under the water bodies of Huaihai, Bohai and Weishan Lake, presided over and succeeded in the first test of mining vertical coal pillars at home and abroad, presided over and formulated the technical specifications for the unification of the first coal pillar design and coal mining technology in China's coal mines, and advocated the establishment of the technical appraisal committee of coal mining damage of China Coal Society, which made great contributions to the energy science and technology cause of China and even the world. He has won the national, provincial and ministerial scientific and technological progress award 19 times, participated in the National Science Conference 1978 times, and won three individual awards for underwater coal mining, underground coal mining and significant contribution.
