As early as more than 7,000 years ago, our ancestors flourished here and created a splendid Hemudu culture.
During the Spring and Autumn Period, it was the territory of Yue State, and after the mid-Warring States Period, it was the territory of Chu State.
In 222 BC, Qin Dingchu, located in the south of the Yangtze River, was divided into three counties: Yin, Zhi and Huiji.
From the Han and Three Kingdoms to the Wei, Jin, Southern and Northern Dynasties, the geographical scope of the three counties remained basically unchanged except for the names of the states, countries and counties to which they belonged.
In 9589, in the ninth year of Emperor Kai of Sui Dynasty, the three counties merged with Yuyao, called Zhang Ju County, and the county ruled Xiaoxi (now Yinjiang Town, Yinzhou District), still belonging to Huiji County.
In the fourth year of Tang Wude (62 1), he moved to Yinzhou and established his state in Sanjiangkou (now the old town of Ningbo); In the eighth year of Wude (625), it was renamed Qixian County, which belonged to Yuezhou and the county ruled Fuxi.
In the 26th year of Tang Kaiyuan (738), Mingzhou was established and ruled.
Cixi, Fenghua and Wengshan counties are also governed by the country.
In the first year of Tang Changqing (82 1), the national government moved from Xiaoxi to Sanjiangkou and built Zicheng, which laid the foundation for the development of Ningbo for more than 1000 years.
According to records, the earliest city wall in Ningbo was built by Liu Laozhi in the 4th year of Long 'an in the Eastern Jin Dynasty (400 years), which is called Shinohara Wall, so the address is said to be in the area of Shinohara Wall Lane in Ximen today.
In the Five Dynasties, it was called Mingzhou Marine Division.
In the first year of Stegosaurus in the Northern Song Dynasty (960), it was called Guo Fengjun in Mingzhou.
In the third year of Shaoxing in the Southern Song Dynasty (1 133), it set up a coastal ambassador to govern Wen Tai and Yueming counties.
In the first year of Qingyuan in the Southern Song Dynasty (1 195), it was promoted to qingyuan prefecture.
In the 13th year of Yuan Dynasty (1276), it was called Qingyuan Road.
In the seventh year of Dade (1303), Marshal House was established in eastern Zhejiang.
In the first year of Wu (1367), Zhu Yuanzhang was called the Ming State House, and in the fourteenth year of Ming Hongwu (138 1), it was renamed Ningbo House.
The name of Ningbo has been used to this day.
In the 15th year of Qing Shunzhi (1658), Ningshaotai Road was established in Ningbo.
1927, Yinxian City was divided into Ningbo City.
1May, 949, East Zhejiang was liberated, and Ningbo City was established in Yinxian City, which was also the resident of Ningbo Department.
1983, cancel the agency and implement the system of city governing county. With the development and construction of Beilun Deepwater Port, Ningbo has gradually evolved from an estuary city to a seaport city, and formed a spatial pattern of coastal river development in Sanjiang, Zhenhai and Beilun.
1986 Ningbo was listed as a national historical and cultural city, 1987 was approved by the State Council and became a city under separate state planning.
Why is Ningbo called "Yong" for short? "Yong" refers to the bell handle in Ci Hai.
Because the word "Yong" was connected with the arrow in ancient Chinese, its original meaning refers to the big clock.
In addition, from the shape of "Yong", it is also very similar to the shape of the big clock we usually see in temples.
As the abbreviation of Ningbo, "Yong" appeared as early as 2400 years ago in the Spring and Autumn Period.
At that time, the place of Ningbo was not called Ningbo, only two place names, Yinhe, belonged to Yue State and was the territory of Gou Jian, the king of Yue.
At the end of the Spring and Autumn Period, the book Guoyu Yuyue said: "The land of Gou Jian is in the east of Yin.
"In 473 BC, Gou Jian, the king of Yue, invaded Wu ten years later, captured Fu Cha, the king of Wu, alive on Gusu Mountain, and then exiled him to the desolate Zhoushan Island.
For this period of history, "Guoyu Yuyue" records: "Please make a sentence by Wang Yong.
"In the Spring and Autumn Period, Zuo Zhuan written by Zuo Qiuming also wrote:" Please make the prince of Wu live in Yongdong.
More than 300 years later, Sima Qian once again mentioned the land where Wu was destroyed.
Hook wanted to move Fu Cha, the king of Wu, to Yongdong and give him a home, and then Fu Cha committed suicide.
"Yong" and "Sentence" in historical materials refer to Ningbo today, while "Yong Dong" and "Yong Sentence East" refer to Zhoushan Island now.
Regarding the origin of the word "Yong", Zhao Wei in the Three Kingdoms period recorded in "Guoyu Story": "Yong, Yongjiang.
"In other words, the name" Yong "originated from Yongjiang River, which in turn originated from Yongshan Mountain.
Yongshan is Tashan in Jiangkou Town at the junction of Yinxian and Fenghua today. Originated at the foot of Siming Mountain, it is the remnant vein of Xuedou Mountain, with Fenghua in the south and Yinzhou in the north.
According to Feng Huazhi's records, the name of Yongshan Mountain is because it looks like a big clock, and the water on the mountain is rich, like a spring gushing out. "Yong" means "Yong", so it is called Yongshan Mountain.
Now, Ci Hai explained: "Yong, the abbreviation of Ningbo City, Zhejiang Province, is named after Yongjiang River in China.
"
During the Spring and Autumn Period, the place names of Yin and Yong were very famous and had a vast territory. By the time Yin County was established in the Qin Dynasty (222 BC), its territory included the western part of Yin and the whole Fenghua as well as parts of Ninghai and Xiangshan. The county seat is located in Baidu Village, Fenghua City, and the only Yongjiang River in the territory has become the main waterway leading to the outside world in this area.
Therefore, at that time, Yongjiang was very famous, and the two place names Yin and Yong coexisted at the same time, referring to the same area. However, the Yongjiang River referred to at that time began at the confluence of Dongjiang River flowing in the direction of Tongjiang, Yinjiang and Fenghua Fangqiao, and ended at Zhenhai Haikou, not Yongjiang River today.
At present, the section from Yongshan River to Xinjiang Bridge 12 1 km in Ningbo City has been called Fenghua River, while the 22 km section where Fenghua River and Yuyao River meet at Sanjiangkou in Ningbo City to Zhenhai Port is called Yongjiang River.
In ancient times, the area where Yongjiang River flowed was called "Yong land". Although the name of this land has undergone many changes, "Yong" has always been its abbreviation and continues to this day.
During the Spring and Autumn Period, Ningbo was in Yue State. In Qin Dynasty, it belonged to Guo, Mao and three counties in Huiji County, and was called Mingzhou in Tang Dynasty. In the 14th year of Hongwu in the Ming Dynasty (A.D. 138 1), Zhu Yuanzhang changed the state capital of Ming Dynasty to Ningbo, which means "Boning is the rule of coastal areas" and has been in use ever since.
