Based on his innovative hybrid simulation method of pantograph-catenary system, the paper "Study on the Dynamic Characteristics of Pantograph by Hybrid Simulation Method" published in Rail and Rapid Transit, a journal of the British Institution of Mechanical Engineers, measures and analyzes the running performance and dynamic parameters of four kinds of pantographs at home and abroad. On June 28th, 2006, I received a letter from Mr Alec Osborn, chairman of the British Institution of Mechanical Engineers, winner of the Imperial Medal and a royal engineer, and learned that his paper won the Best Original Paper Award of the British Institution of Mechanical Engineers in 2005 and the Thomas Hawksley Gold Award, while his collaborators Mei Guiming and Wu Hechen won the Bronze Award.
