The Department of Business Administration holds a master's degree in business administration, world economy and political economy, and a doctorate in world economy. While undertaking the research work of major national and Shanghai projects, we also actively take the road of combining Industry-University-Research to undertake relevant research projects for enterprises, and have close ties with relevant universities in Germany, Britain, the Netherlands, Japan and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. The curriculum is close to MBA, and efforts should be made to run the business administration major in line with China's national conditions and serve China's economic construction.
This major trains senior management talents in industrial and commercial enterprises and scientific research and teaching talents in economic management. The course strives to meet the needs of the socialist market economy, and has the characteristics of combining arts and sciences, solid professional foundation, wide knowledge and strong application.
At present, the main courses offered by the undergraduate are: microeconomics, macroeconomics, advanced mathematics, probability theory and mathematical statistics, accounting, management principles, marketing, operation management, financial management, human resource management, organizational behavior, strategic management, management information system, cost management, quality management, international enterprise management, company law, securities economics and so on.
This major combines arts and sciences. After graduation, the main employment destinations of students are: industry, finance, foreign trade, real estate, investment consulting, information technology and other enterprises and government comprehensive economic management departments. Graduates apply for graduate students in business administration, finance, trade and world economy.
The Department of Business Administration was established in1May, 1999. At present, there are 8 teachers1,including 7 teachers with senior titles, 7 teachers with intermediate titles and 7 teachers with doctoral degrees. The undergraduate major is business administration, with two master's majors in business administration and world economy, and one doctoral major in world economy. Our department has two research institutions: International Enterprise Institute headed by Professor Jin Rungui and Brand Science Research Center headed by Professor He Jiaxun. The research team focuses on organization and strategy, operation management, financial cost management, marketing management, quality management, human resource management, logistics management and other fields. Our department has good teaching conditions and manages the latest management training center.
In recent years, teachers of the Department of Business Administration have published dozens of papers in authoritative core academic journals such as Managing the World, China Industrial Economy and World Economic Research, and have also published more than 20 monographs, edited and translated more than 20 books, and edited more than 20 textbooks. They have won national, provincial and ministerial awards for many times and have strong advantages in scientific research. In addition to undertaking a number of national and provincial key projects, the teachers of the Department of Business Administration also take the road of combining production, learning and research, actively go deep into the practice of enterprise management, serve as independent directors of listed companies and consultants of famous large and medium-sized enterprises, undertake a number of projects entrusted by enterprises, and make remarkable contributions to local economic construction.
There are 7 doctoral students, 98 master students, 232 undergraduates and 387 evening university students in the Department of Business Administration. Our department has close ties with universities in the United States, Germany, Britain, the Netherlands, Japan and Hong Kong, actively learning from international advanced scientific research and teaching experience, moving closer to MBA in curriculum design, striving to cultivate more compound business administration professionals with a solid foundation of modern management theory and economic theory, paying attention to integrating theory with practice and serving China's economic construction.
