MR (Materials Report, Materials Bao Dao) was founded in 1987, and is an academic journal sponsored by Chongqing Southwest Information Co., Ltd. (formerly Southwest Information Center of the Ministry of Science and Technology), which has a wide readership and a high reputation in the domestic materials industry. Materials Guide (MR) is a bimonthly publication, the first half of which is an abstract article, mainly covering the national development plan, latest research progress and industrial application status of materials science. The second half of the month is research articles, mainly experimental articles, which mainly report the latest original and novel experimental research results and theoretical methods in material science. The current editor-in-chief is Professor Huang Wei, an academician of China Academy of Sciences.

Material Guide (MR) is currently included in many important databases at home and abroad, such as EI, CSCD, Scopus, etc. In recent years, it has won the honor of national periodicals for many times, and has a high reputation and influence in the domestic material industry. According to the citation report of China Sci-tech Journal (Core Edition) published by China Institute of Science and Technology Information (ISTIC) in 2013-2020, the comprehensive evaluation score of Materials Guide has been ranked first in comprehensive journals of materials science for 8 consecutive years.

In recent years, the editorial department of Material Guide has continuously improved the publishing standards of articles with a substantial increase in the number of contributions, and the rejection rate has increased year by year. At the same time, actively attract academic experts as peer reviewers, effectively ensuring the high standard of journals. At present, an editorial board team with academicians of the two academies, "973", "863", "Xie Qing", "Changjiang Scholar", "Thousand Talents Program" and "Hundred Talents Program" as the main body has been formed, and a peer review expert database of more than 1.200 people has been established.
