Qian Qihu, 1937, born in Kunshan, Jiangsu on October 26th, is an expert in protection engineering, an expert in military engineering, an educator, an academician of China Academy of Engineering, a winner of the highest national science and technology award, a consultant of the Central Military Commission of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Science and Technology Committee, a professor and doctoral supervisor of PLA Army Engineering University.
Qian Qihu has been engaged in the teaching and scientific research of protection engineering and underground engineering for a long time, solved many calculation and design problems such as orifice protection, and took the lead in applying operational research and system engineering methods to the field of protection engineering.
From 2065438 to June 2008, Qian Qihu's main monographs include Civil Defence, Application of Finite Element Method in Engineering Structure Calculation, Calculation Principle of Protective Structure, and more than 40 papers such as Comparative Study on Load Theory and Test Results of Shallow Buried Structures under Nuclear Explosion.

Qian Qihu has been engaged in the teaching and scientific research of protective engineering and underground engineering for a long time, established the discipline of protective engineering in China, and established national key disciplines, key laboratories and innovative research groups.
The interaction calculation theory of nuclear explosion load of shallow buried structure in soil, the damage evaluation method of urban civil air defense engineering, the design calculation method of high-speed and ultra-high-speed earth-penetrating projectile protection engineering and the nonlinear mechanics theory of deep rock are systematically established. The first set of airborne nuclear explosion load simulation test device in China has been developed, and a variety of new protective materials and a series of high resistance composite structures have been developed.
In China, the basic theory of deep nonlinear rock mechanics and the research on the destructive effect of deep protection engineering against nuclear weapons penetration and explosion were initiated and taken the lead, which filled the gap in the calculation theory of deep underground engineering against nuclear weapons penetration and explosion effect.
A number of development strategic suggestions, such as the transformation of protection engineering construction, the construction of ultra-high resistance deep underground protection engineering, the synchronous development of strategic passages, bridges and tunnels, and underground energy storage, have been adopted and implemented by the Central Military Commission and state ministries and commissions.
