Jing M.Guo: Always pursue an ordinary (turn)

—— Interview with Jing Yangming: Jing M. Guo, the head of new youth literature, 1983, a native of Zigong, Sichuan, with the fourth screen name. The winner of the first prize in the 3rd and 4th National New Concept Composition Competition published his short story "Fantasy City" in the 10th issue of Germination magazine in 2002, which caused a sensation. Later, he wrote the novel Dream City, which was published by Feng Chun Literature and Art Publishing House. He has published personal works such as The Edge of Love and Pain, Left Hand Reflection, Right Hand Time and Fantasy City. In May 2003, he began to serialize his latest novel "How many flowers fall in a dream" in "Germination" magazine, and this novel will be published in a single book by the end of this year. Currently studying at the School of Film and Television Arts and Technology of Shanghai University. Jing M.Guo's interview was conducted twice, and there was no such thing as "politely declined" or "refused in every way" as he imagined. The boy is very modest and polite. In both interviews, he would say thank you softly when he received the milk tea sent by the waiter, and pick up the business card with both hands. After eating the sandwich, he will clean the crumbs on the table. Except for seeing him for the first time, seeing his blue contact lenses made me uncomfortable, and my MD recording was broken. Everything went smoothly than expected. The second time I saw him, I lost my blue contact lens and replaced it with a blue and red plaid flannel hat. Maybe I'm allergic to blue recently, and I found it again-I forgot to bring my MD recording microphone. The university campus was deserted on Friday night, but he was busy packing up and moving out of the dormitory. Because I think it is too inconvenient to turn off the lights at half past ten, especially when writing at night. He and some friends rented a house not far from the school and shared it. "Oh, isn't that convenient for you to do bad things?" I pretended to make a fuss and asked him. "Bad thing?" He obviously hasn't reacted yet. For only a second, we burst out laughing. Reporter: Fantasy City is your famous work, so let's start with your work. Among several works, including Fantasy City, which one do you like best? Or which work do you think is the most satisfactory? Jing M.Guo: Can it be an upcoming work? Reporter: Yes. Jing M.Guo: What I like most and am most satisfied with is how many flowers have fallen in a dream. This work has made great progress in many aspects, such as skills. For example, the arrangement of the plot and the use of language are all changes in my personal style. More importantly, its binding and illustrations were done by me and my friends. The binding and illustrations of the book "Left-handed Reflection and Right-handed Time" are also made by this friend, which is quite special. Reporter: You just said that the binding and illustrations of How Many Flowers Fall in a Dream were completed by you and your friends. Can you see your own illustrations in the book "A Dream with Several Flowers"? Jing M.Guo: (Laughter) No, usually my friend is in charge of the design, and then I read his first draft and give some advice. My friend is very good. Although he is only a senior in high school, he is already famous. Reporter: What are the characteristics of the two works, Fantasy City and A Dream with Flowers Falling? Jing M.Guo: Fantasy City is very special. This is my first novel and my first exposure to fantasy stories. It's a brand-new starting point for me. How many flowers fall in a dream is a completely different style, describing the youth story in real life. Reporter: Although "Fantasy City" is a fantasy novel, do some of the characters you created in the book have character prototypes? Jing M.Guo: Not really. They are completely imaginary characters of mine. Maybe some characters have a little personality from me or my friends. But this is basically pure imagination. Reporter: Which role do you like best? Jing M.Guo: Castle. He is a man of great personality, and many personalities can be seen in him. I confided to him as the first protagonist, and I put the most emotion into it. Reporter: You just said that A Dream with Flowers is closer to real life. Is there a prototype in this work? Jing M.Guo: Yes. Slightly and matches. Their prototype is my friend in middle school. It may be exaggerated and distorted, but my friend's shadow can be found in the character, manners and behavior of the characters. Reporter: Have they read this novel? Jing M.Guo: Yes. Reporter: What did you feel? Jing M.Guo: They think it's better than before. They think I've grown up. (Laughter, pause) When I was creating, I kept trying various styles. For example, in the work "A Dream with Several Flowers", I tried a rascal style. Although there is some heavy and sad feeling at the end, it is a very lively and colloquial narrative in the whole work, which is closer to life than City of Dreams, and the language is not as gorgeous as City of Dreams. Jing M.Guo: Always Pursuing the Ordinary (2) (Figure)

Fan Xiao's editor

Reporter: You once said that you wanted to write a script for Wong Kar-wai? When was that idea?

Jing M.Guo: In high school. At that time, people were younger. I always watched Wong Kar-wai's movies, which were quite interesting. I happened to have been writing something, and I had this idea. Later, I entered the university and began to learn film and television.

There are many movies, and it doesn't feel very special. In fact, every master has his own characteristics. Because I am a film and television major now, making some short films will be influenced by many directors, but it is still more Japanese. I feel that I am still in a learning stage and need to constantly absorb new things.

Reporter: Among the movies you have seen, which director do you admire most?

Jing M.Guo: Shunji Iwai. I began to like his movies in high school. I watched all his films and followed all his reports. There is a special folder about him in my computer. It can be said that he is my idol. The pictures in his movies are beautiful and full, and the details are touching. His movies have no twists and turns, but he can impress you through some small details and little people. Shunji Iwai is not a master, nor has he won any prizes. I think his latest film Everything in Zhou Lili is much more mature than his previous works. The narrative is smoother and the expression is deeper. ...

(For a long time, the two began to discuss the film Everything in Zhou Lili, and even refined into some fragmented scenes in the film. I almost forgot to do the interview, so I deleted some words. )

Reporter: After listening to your description, I think you seem to like your major now. Why did you think of studying film and television?

Jing M.Guo: My first choice is actually advertising in Xiamen University. But I really like it after reading this major. I wanted to be a good director for a while. But now my mind has changed. I may consider starting a business with a few friends and starting an advertising company to do something else, not necessarily pure art, but being a director is just an ideal.

Reporter: When you first had the idea of becoming an excellent director, did you ever think about making a film yourself? Have you decided on a theme?

Jing M.Guo: Yes. A very simple theme is a youth story that takes place in the age range of 16 to 20. This is just an idea.

Reporter: It seems that our topic has been around movies for too long. Let's go back to your words. When did you become interested in writing?

Jing M.Guo: In high school. The head teacher in my middle school has always been very kind to me and encouraged me to write and contribute. That's when I started writing. Fantasy City was created when I was in my third year of high school.

Reporter: Do you remember the first time when your words turned into type? Is there a manuscript fee? Do you remember how it was spent?

Jing M.Guo: Grade two. Wrote an article about school activities, about 500 words. I don't remember the title. This is also ...
