The concept of "twins" originated from NASA's Apollo program.
Around 2003, the idea of DigitalTwin first appeared in the product lifecycle management course of the University of Michigan. Until 20 10, the term "DigitalTwin" was formally put forward in the technical report of NASA.
In 20 12, NASA and the US Air Force jointly published a paper on digital twins, focusing on the future development of aircraft.
In recent years, with the rapid development of multidisciplinary modeling and simulation technology, the research of digital twinning technology has become a hot spot. Thanks to the development of new information technologies such as Internet of Things, big data, cloud computing and artificial intelligence, digital pairing has been successfully applied to virtual prototype, digital pairing workshop, digital pairing industry, digital pairing satellite, smart energy, smart factory, transportation, medical and health care and other fields.
Future-oriented network development, with the continuous development of cloud computing, big data, artificial intelligence and the ubiquity of information, digital twinning technology will also be more widely used in the fields of human activity monitoring and management, home life and scientific research, making the whole society move towards a "digital twinning" world combining virtual and reality.
