How does water generate electricity?
There are two ways to generate electricity from water.

1, which is common among laymen. It's a hydropower station. The hydropower station stores water first, so that the water has certain mechanical energy. When the sluice gate is opened, the high water flows to the other side of the dam in a certain channel. During this period, the turbine rotates to further drive the generator, and the mechanical energy originally possessed by water is converted into electrical energy through the turbine.

2. This method is widely used in thermal power and nuclear power. Take thermal power as an example. Let's talk about the main energy conversion of thermal power plants. Basically, chemical energy of coal is converted into mechanical energy, and mechanical energy is converted into electrical energy.

Then the chemical energy of coal is converted into mechanical energy mainly by sending pulverized coal into the furnace for combustion. Obviously, burning coal alone can only generate heat. At this time, water should also be sent to the boiler for heating (the water in the pipeline is heated by the flue gas generated by coal combustion), so that the water heated by the boiler becomes steam, which is dry saturated steam. Such steam has a certain kinetic energy, and then it is sent to the steam turbine through the pipeline to do work, and the rotating steam turbine drives the generator to realize the transformation from mechanical energy to electrical energy.
