Page number before the paper catalogue
The normal university's standard for the page number of graduation thesis is: the cover, title page, thanks, statement and back cover of the thesis are not numbered; The abstracts and contents of the papers are numbered in Roman numerals; The text of the paper must be numbered consecutively with Arabic numerals from the first page. Page numbers should be placed in the footer and centered.

The order of each part of the graduation thesis is: title page, abstract and table of contents, main part of the thesis, thanks and statement. From this, we will encounter a series of problems, and some simple problems will not be repeated here. Just talk about problems that are not usually encountered and it is difficult to find a solution at the moment.

The first problem is that the page numbering is discontinuous. If the content is calculated in Roman style, the text of the paper needs to be recalculated. The solution is to insert a delimiter.

The solution: Click Insert and select the delimiter. In Separator Type, select section break, and then click Continuous Options.

Then go back to the document section, double-click the page number at the bottom of the page, and the footer and header editing boxes will pop up. Click the "Link to Previous Page" icon in the edit box (a style that connects two pages of books with a dotted line). At this point, you will find that the words "same as the previous section" in the upper right corner of the dotted box in the page number part have disappeared. At this point, close the footer and header edit boxes, click the menu Insert-Page Number, click the format option, select the starting page number, and fill in 1, and the problem will be solved.

The second problem is the horizontal line problem that may appear on each page after the endnotes are removed.

The solution is: Click View and select Normal View. Click the view again and select the footnote option. At this point, an endnote and its drop-down menu will appear in the lower left corner of the document. Click the drop-down menu and select the Endnote Continuation Delimiter option. At this point, a long horizontal line will appear in the box below. Select it, delete it and the problem will be solved.

The third problem is the possible problem that the page number does not appear in the thank-you statement. When you double-click the page number and try to delete it, you will find that the page number of the main part of the paper is missing, because the thanks and statements are in the same section as the main part of the paper. Deleting page numbers anywhere in this section will result in the deletion of page numbers throughout the document. Moreover, when you try to insert a delimiter in the confirmation and statement, you will find that the delimiter option is gray at this time, and you can't perform related operations.

The reason for this problem is that thanks and statements are located after endnotes, which are usually regarded as the end of the document. Of course, the finished document cannot be divided into sections.

Solution: When inserting a reference-endnote, in the Endnote Location option of the Endnote and Footnote dialog box, position it at the end of the section, not at the end of the document by default. If all the preceding endnotes define the position at the end of the document. It can be solved by converting the format. That is, select the first endnote in the text and enter a random number. A dialog box will pop up. Click the option button of the dialog box, and the endnotes and footnotes dialog box will appear. In this dialog box, change the position of the endnote to the end of the section, and then click Apply.
